How to powerTraxxas light kit

So fitted my engine sound thingy and all the youtube vids showed to connect it to the little red plug coming from the ESC, have ordered the traxxas light kit and after watching some youtube installation vids they all connect the lights to the little red plug which I haven't got free any more, looking on ebay and there are some jst y leads that look the same as the one on the truck, can I use one of them to connect both things to the ESC or will it over load it and blow it up?.

 

Only other thing I can think of is to add another battery that has one of those JST plugs for the lights but then it's going to get a bit heavy, cheers for any replies, don't know much about electric rc...last one I had was a Tamiya wild one about 35 years ago lol

You can plug lights into a spare channel on reciever. That’s what I did 👍

You just need a Traxxas Y lead, same as what is used when fitting a BEC.

yup, should work fine. if you ever get a light kit with the 3 wires, you'd need a futaba style splitter, but that one will work perfectly for your application
