yeah the builders kit is great if you have electronics and want a different body. It would be nice if they did a white or grey version of the cage so you could dye it. For the price as well, its not bad just to buy a builders kit for spares. both the axles by themselves would be almost $200. Hopefully the usd=gdp so its not over £200 :P

USD will be without state sales tax. The GBP prices are now going up due to currency fluctuations and incoming duties changes most likely.  People trade in USD, the £ has tanked Vs USD and shows no sign of stopping.

What's the history here? Was the original binned off because of its weak drive-train? Is this new version a bit more hobby grade? A true basher? Or similar to the UDR, not suitable for air-time?

The Aussie boys have used one for the @Kevin Talbot challenge, good vid.

The licensing for the bodies ran out axial was owned by same people as arrma so they couldn't renew the contract while they were going bust.

The original truck had chocolate gears in the gearbox, 27t brushed motor and an esc that had drag break as it was made for crawling. It was mega expensive compared to the performance, but it's one of the coolest chassis with the plastic cage.  A lot of people wanted it brought back so when horizon got axial sorted they worked on bringing it back, but improved it with the metal gears, new motor and esc. They also made it $100 cheaper as well as I guess they didn't have to do much R&D this time round and all the molds for the cage were already there.

Its not mega durable tbh and still needs a lot of upgrades it you want to run it like you would an arrma granite or stampede, but if you want to do some more scale size jumps it is fine for that. Its definitely a more scale drive like a udr/yeti/rock rey than an outright basher. Having the solid axles and the higher centre of gravity makes it completely different to drive though.

Cheers for that, excellent explanation. Doubt I'll get one, but they do look fun. Just watched Jaytee run his BL, good speed from 2S.
