Gelande Electrics

Recommended Posts

So this is where I am with electrics for the Gelande D90 1/10th kit I'm considering.

Just trying to get to a total  cost before committing.

I'm grateful for any input as my experience and knowledge barely skims the surface. Much of this matches what I used when I built my Wraith:

First things first... I'm running NiMH batteries.

  • GoolRC 35T motor. The RTR Gelande uses a 45T motor with NiMH so I am seriously considering whether I should be 45 or 55T? Should I simply use the RC4WD motor?
  • Hobbywing QUICRUN 1060 1080 Brushed Waterproof ESC
  • Power HD LW20 Waterproof High Torque Metal Gear Servo - Blue
  • Castle BEC - 10A Peak 25V Max
  • Flysky FS GT3B with receiver

Whadyathink? I'm try8ing to hit that sweet spot where I don't spend a small fortune but also don't miss out on the benefits of spending a little. Plus also ensuring I simply don't go buying the wrong things altogether!

Thanks

recommend the 1080 instead. Better adjustment on the drag brake. The d90 is a heavy car:)

Thank you! Updated my original post accordingly.

Tricky one with the motor. Their cheap enough to experiment with so I think I'll start 45T RC4WD motor as it's what the RTR comes with and go from there.

Just out of interest... The GoolRC motor looks "purposeful" compared to the RC4WD and other similar tin cans with spindles - is it simply because the brushes are replaceable?

I have some rebuildable motors, but i am too lazy. I just buy new ones when they break[emoji3]
