tamiya are the Nintendo of r/c. put at the same rubbish with different spin and people buy it because they were good 'back in the day' :P

Tamiya brought Rc to the masses and it was a specialised hobby before that mainly just racing.

 

kind of like how Nintendo brought the arcade machine to the home.

 

both quite revolutionary brands if you actually think about it.

 

finally why would a business do something that's upsets profit nowadays? After all the Rc hobby is a luxury not a necessity.

Tamiya are useless and stupid and basic and come with friction shocks and cheesehead screws and even bearings are an upgrade.

But they're a lot of fun and some of them are stupidly cheap and they go together lovely :D

Nintendo has Mario Kart and Tamiya have the Lunchbox and both are a good laugh!
