Back to RC after 15 years with a King Blackfoot

Hi I'm Jim,

I used to run Tamiya cars years ago (Grasshopper and a TA-02 with volvo 850 BTCC shell and Escort Cossy) but they got sold over time in favour of a CEN Nitro car. That went too and now I have just got a King Blackfoot in need of a full resto job. I grew up right near the RC track in Shoreham by Sea,West Sussex so used to run my cars there a lot (not proper racing).

So much has changed, brushless motors, ESCs, Lipo batteries, its all new to me!

The first job i have to do is remove the layers of dust and sawdust covering it! I'll post up photos as I go along...

Cheers,Jim

I just remembered I used to have a monster truck called Big Bear, not sure what make it was but it had a tamiya style msc.

It went really well, faster than my mates midnight pumpkin he had at thd time!

Marui Big Bear. The company stopped making RC cars a long time ago. I've gathered the bits to do a replica of one which I'll get around to building one of these days. Took forever to find some of the original kit bits to make the replica right.

Yes that's the one John!

The only way i knew it was called Big bear was that it said it on the tyres! The datsun shell i had was in very bad shape so i didnt ever use it.

The handling was pretty good although the rubber tyres were quite thin so were very soft. Great off road but sometimes unpredictable on tarmac.

My one survived a full speed head on 'runaway' crash into the armco at the Adur rec oval track once. It did a somersault, landed on the other side and kept going with no damage!

Like many of these things - I wish i still had it now!

I have now picked up a fairly complete(ish) Bush Devil chassis which is almost the same as the King BF apart from the front suspension.

Only trouble is I meed some parts which I cant find online, the plastic cover over the servos is one, the another is the front bumper which the metal suspension rods attach to.

Any ideas where i could find them?
