A decent Nitro RC buggy/truck for a newbie

First of all hi! :)

Right, with a budget of £150 I've been looking at these two:

http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFunction=...mp;ItemID=18069

and

http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFunction=...mp;ItemID=24761

I don't have a lot of experience of RC cars, I had an electric one few years ago but it was more of a toy. Do they come with everything required? Does the HPI Nitro Rush Evo RTR come with a control? How hard is it to maintain? Anything else I should know?

Thanks! :)

You will need fuel, a fuel bottle, a glowstart with charger, and AA's. These are available in modelspots combo's at the bottom of the page. However, I personally would avoid modelsports fuel.

The rush comes with radio gear, and regarding how hard it is to maintain, it is a nitro, and so it will require looking after. The car itself is not particularly challenging, although I've never owned one, I'm sure owners on here will let you know.

the rush is a great intro to nitro,2wd means its very easy to work on and lots of fun to drive, hard to kill unless you are a real numpty

BMW nut is 100% right imo :D

Obvs if u cant tell by my sig that im the forums Rush Evo Mad hat :P:arigato:

Anyway Its a very simple car to work on :D

There and hundred if not thousands of different hop ups available

Look at my sig for a start :D

And then look at Euan's who done some more Un official HPI hop ups which i kinda like (steals his steering rods :D) :P But anyway

The t-15 is a good basic engine to start with

can pack a punch but also when Altered can run like a dream :D

Its a Simple Car - Fuel tank to engine to diffential to wheel = fun :D

Somewhere in that equation electronics needs to be added but anyway

Its a good car to learn basics - Ie cleaning / Maintance / Tuning (not my speciality here :D) / Upgrading / Repairing and How to have fun :D

Alot of people slate the rush evo - But if ur determined they can do owt really - except wheelie :D even with a .18 and 25% im still struggling on that point :P

(god i babble too much)

There are loads of other party hope ups ie GPM, Edit, Fastrax etc and it all adds to the speciality of the car

There are SOME weaknesses in the car - Which can be solved easily

Rear suspension is really soft - I've altered mine about 3 times to get sumet i like

Stock Brake is Found to be weak and naff - I have a tip which MAY help but upgrading it would be the best option

Rear hubs - Easily melt/erode tires if they are too loose against wheel or under heavy strain

Disk hub - (i personally never had any troubles but) many people have found them to be poor at taking any unknown forces

Anyway hope that helps

I think the Rush Evo will be better then the other 1

But as sum1 said earlier parts are becoming harder as for the Firestorm is coming out soon

NOO wait till the firestorm....its amazing

lol the nb16....im not gonna go there -_-

rush....or wait for the firestorm

There are always gonna be problems

But its good to see some stuff been done like the throttle mod

I'm curious to see how the New brakes work

I think the major problem with the Firestorm the new engine is gonna be overpowerful - and its gonna make it wheelie like mad and flip over too easy

But the Firestorm is gonna be £200 ish new

and new parts are gonna be expensive for a while

is the engine a .3?

if so........wow

i reckon it will just be fast, but will lack at everything else....

but a .3 engine!!! (nitro star i imagine) thats crazy! (probably cost as much as the car itself new)

its not a .3 engine

thats the CC of the engine

Times it by 6 to get the engine size

.3 x 6 = .18

I was also looking at the Rush Evo for my first Nitro RC. I used to be a bit of a boy racer and like the idea of the hop ups. Cheaper than modding a Honda Integra

.....then I spotted the Firestorm. I know its not out yet but do you think they will make mods for the Firestorm like they have with the Rush Evo?

All I need to do now is sell some Kites and hornby stuff :D
