OHO's Axial SCX10 Jeep Wrangler G6.

Recommended Posts

Give it a go, it's actually so easy lol, a kid could do it, it's literally just cutting to size, then snip bits to make it bend and fold the edges over onto each other and glue, job done lol.

After thinking about it more, I'd actually only need the DX4S for one model (that's IF I decide to buy another winch) but if not then my current set up will be ample.

  • 3 weeks later...

Took the SC10 and the SCX10 up to my friends today, seeing as the Baja is out of action until I can be bothered to repair it.

After the SC10 started playing up I decided to give the SCX10 a little blast round the field, few piles of rocks and such and a lovely stream running through one of his fields too.

Took my camera as well but took a flat battery! So had to just get a few snaps with my phone.

Love the articulation shots posed on the mountainous tractor ruts :)

How do you find those tyres in that sort of mud?

Am stuck trying to decide what tyres to get to go on new beadlocks and trying to find something that doesn't turn into four slick balls of mud when things are gloopy

Yep they where done when they'd had a big downpour lol, that was about 6 weeks ago! He was trying to flatten them out a bit today

They did well, for stock tyres, they're about the best stockers I've used for their application.

I do have some Rok Lox to go on which look slightly more aggressive so might grip even better, but these actually did well, I only got stuck once and that was up a very steep climb that was just loose stuff, no tyre or RC would have gripped IMO.

Plenty of folk selling them at the moment as well from new kits.

Only thing I need to do to this to consider it 'complete' is move the front bumper in a bit now I don't have the winch.

Took some rather hard tumbles today too, no cracks in the shell and no damage to the cage.

I'd say grab some personally, I think they're a good tyre.

I don't run foams in mine either, so if you're going up something a bit slippy and you catch something sticking out like a stone or firm bit of mud, it grips really well.

They also fit these SSD rims absolutely perfectly.

Well if you check out the angle my D90 is at in the other topic, that's also running no foams... I personally find them better, for my driving style.

Having said that, I've noticed an influx of guys who used to run foamless, now going for full foams, so I might do a bit of digging into if theirs a newly released foam or something.

I personally like the tyres nice and soft for grip on stones and such though.

So I haven't had this out for a proper run for a little while which is a shame, it's such a fun rig to drive and abuse, I was pretty wound up this morning in a dispute with Wheelspin Models, so anyway, I decided this would get a thrashing today :)

Glad I did, I had almost forgotten exactly how fun this is.

I simply love it, getting wet, muddy and generally hoonin'!

Towards the end when going through the deeper water, I lost steering one way, would go full lock left and nothing right.

Picked it up gave it a few drops from about 2ft, hit the throttle... Perfect lol, got to love it when it's just mud or a stone stuck and not an electrical gremlin.

Got some pictures along the way of course... So, enjoy :)

Another play out today, initially took the SC10 out, but after 2 minutes I hit a puddle and it jut stopped dead, not sure if it's ESC or rx, pretty sure it's ESC, no matter though.

Good thing I had my SCX10 in my bag :P

Whilst I grabbed the SCX10 out of my bag, I almost stepped on this little fellow, so decided to grab a few pictures of him just walking along the trail.

Also had a weird noise whilst on the way round but ploughed on anyway, thought it was mud in the motor, but got back and realised it was a wheel/axle bearing, so decided to give it a good strip down and a bit of a service, fresh bearings and grease all round, ready for tomorrow! :)

After taking the cage off this today to do some bodyshell repairs, I gave it a good wash (cleanish) and decided the rear does look a bit plain, especially when it's clean, so I decided to go back for the netted look.

I've also started work on a toolbox for it, like the Gelande 2, it will be fully functional and locking.

It is a bit bigger than the G2's, so not sure what to carry yet, more than likely just body clips, a few nuts and bolts, maybe some hexes etc... We shall see what will fit! :)

Little more done for tonight, I know the little locking pin thing isn't right, it's just to show how it works though :)

I need to come up with a way of locking it as well, got a few ideas floating around which I shall experiment with tomorrow.

FYI, the reason it looks so complicated, is I want it to look heavy duty, most stuff on this truck does, like the bumpers for example, so I want it to tie in with that, hence a slightly over complicated design but IMO, a better finish :D
