HairyGranola
Dont post much on here however, as my baja is due to get a rebuild thought id just share it on here. And dont worry theres plenty of upgrades!! I had a spare shell so went for something different, all the pictures are individually stuck down, it then got a coating of watered down pva then 3 coats of clear coat ( hand painted) and one final coat of clear nail varnish. The finish is rock hard and i rekon its gonna hold up pretty well. The edges are done with black duct tape and the inside if backed with tape aswell. It actually makes the shell feel much more flexible. And heres currently the stage im at with stripping down the beast. RCbutcher
Good trick with the pva glue mate, when you said each sticker was individually stuck down i thought thats going to be lots of crevasses for gunk to get stuck too. Ill remember that when i use stickers in the future. How long did it take to strip to that point?
HairyGranola
As im doing a full rebuild it took about an hour, removing all screws clips etc. That was my thought aswell, i felt like a child buying pva glue haha Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Nitroholic
PVA should be flexible enough to hold up, and will seal all the edges too. I have made home-brew stickers for a few cars in the past and used PVA to seal them. Works very well. If you don;t water it down, the brush marks stand out way too much. I am seeing a fair few IRC packets in that box of bits as well as the fan-brace... plus what look like SIlverback beadlocks in the bottom

I got the hostile rings as thats all that abbots had however they are 100 times stronger than stock just by feeling them. Plus i didnt really like how 'smooth' the silverbacks Well spotted! Ive got all chassis brace parts and one side of the engine brace. Also got the clipless hinge pins and the brake caliper. All irc The box if full of stuff from abbots which ill list later on if anyone wants a list [emoji3] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Yea i really like all the manga/japanese stuff and theres no better way than covering a baja in it right?! [emoji23] The fam brace stops the fan case from cracking which is a known problem apparently, mines still intact but better to be safe than sorry! Nitroholic
Fan housing really needs a brace .... and it is a good investment. The stock HPI design attaches chassis bracing plates to the front and back of the fan housing.....which gets stressed when the chassis flexes. After a while, the mounting lugs snap off the fan housing. Hostile rear uprights are another good addon. I've had mine for a long time, and can't fault them. The only thing you will want to do is replace the rear upper balljoint. It sits at an awkward angle which I didn't like. It's kinked as stock...and you have to rotate it 90' to fit the hostile uprights. Works OK...just doesn't look pretty. Should all make for one happy Baja

The Trooper
Love builds like this, hope you get on alright with the Hostile beadlocks, there has been numerous reports of them cracking, even cracking whilst being fitted. You don't want rigid beadlocks, you want firm but flexible.
Oh How Original
Silverback are your best option for beadlocks, I've got Hostiles on mine currently simply as they came with 'em but I will get round to changing them.
HairyGranola
^^ cheers for the hostile tip. Ill let you know how i get on with them. If they turn out to be s**t ive still got the stock ones just in case. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

HairyGranola
Ill probably just take the head of and see if everythings good. I used to take my nitro engines apart quite regurly and ive never had one fail so hopefully that can translate into petrol [emoji106] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
HairyGranola
Engine out. Clutch looks good. Also my homemade flywheel cover is holding up well [emoji106] Theres also a tonne of oil all over the gearbox due to the exhaust leaking. Ive got some rtv gasket high temp silicone which im gonna put in between the gaskets to help seal it better Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Edited November 19, 2014 by HairyGranola
MAZ
Is the home made flywheel cover there to stop crap getting all over the crankcase? I was thinking about putting some loctite high temp copper gasket sealant between all the gaskets on the engine
