hokuspokus
I was just wondering what engine would be good to upgrade to,and what exhaust could i now put on to the standard engine that is already on it and that would also fit on to a new engine once i would upgrade...what servo's would also be good to change to than the ones the trophy, and where is the best place to purchase from? GilbertRC1
if you want to change the wheel colours then watch these videos on dying the rims and other plastic parts. UltimateRc: Rcnightmare: hope that helps. Ben. Edited July 28, 2014 by GilbertRC1
hokuspokus
ah never thought of dying them i should of coz ive dyed a few bmx seat in the past etc, good thinking gilbert, got mycar back from the guy who was setting it up,its not as fast as i thought it would be,and i thought there be a sharper turn on it,wish you could reverse the nitro cars, means my kids have to keep running after them if it jams against a wall or something like that, well am new to all this and i wish it would reverse also lol hate having to run after thing if it gets stuck and ya cant reverse out of it
Smoothybb
Option 1) don't run them into solid objects, a glancing blow is quite sufficient. Option 2) massive rubber bumpers - should give enough bounce back to then turn out of it. Easier just to steer away from things in the way
hokuspokus
it was the missus kid that smashed his the shell and all is bust up,bumper twisted and very slight bend/twist on the chassis,he was told by his mum not to be going full throttle but hey typical kids my 2 boys will be the same,i want more top end speed in my on car need to purchase some top gear though more money, might need to sell the tts to fund my hobbies :D:D (NEVER)
Smoothybb
It's not just kids. I ended up with a banana chassis after I gave the tx to my mate and said go easy. He was 20+ at the time! I was more annoyed that it cartwheeled into my shin tbh.
Anthoop
There are ways to limit the throttle travel....either by radio adjustments (end points) or by altering throttle linkage....or even some bodge on the transmitter stick/trigger. Also try to find areas without obstacles until they get used to driving them.
hokuspokus
Its finding somewhere around here, they could run them on the football pitches but they wont really get them up to full power etc.
Trophy
I have the same issue with mine so I had to pump up the suspension using all of the adjusting clips, it doesn't get up to full speed but it certainly shifts a lot faster over the grass without working the engine so hard. unlimited amount of fields here too and no industrial area's close by for a good bash. Bog standard parts are easy to get for the trophy but when it comes to custom, it isn't easy to find much for it (well not for me anyway as I am still RC noobie status, only 2 months into the hobby) Best thing I have got so far is the Louise high down-force racing wing. I found that using eBay.com instead of eBay UK is cheaper, good to use if you don't mind waiting for the part. It took 5 days for the wing to arrive and that was from Thailand.
hokuspokus
Cheers trophy,am all new to this also,i might see if i can stiffen the suspension on the kids cars, there only the himoto brand for them as for a beginner car i thought they would do for them,as for the trophy i expected alot more from it as when you read reviews on it it all seems great but then when it runs it just isnt as good as what reviews say. Trophy
When it is tuned up well it flies on solid surfaces, if it doesn't seem fast then check the controller trim for throttle. took me a few weeks to get it tuned right and when you get it perfect you will be happy with the trophy performance (expect something to break or screws come lose and vanish almost every run though lol)
hokuspokus
am going to have to see the guy that tuned mine and see if he can get me more power out of this,it seems as if my boys wee himoto's are more powerful than the trophy and i cant be having that ,changing the exhaust to a JP then i think a different engine will be planted into it in a few months time, anyone suggest good servo that arent really expensive and different wheels for this and where to buy from? cheers Graham
Trophy
The more experienced guys here can answer the servo issue, im still way too noobie to know. but I do know the Trophy will fly when tuned, even drag raced a VW golf and beat it in a 100 metre run..lol So it is fast once tuned (not as fast as the 4.6 of course but fast for what it is.) Running it on grass really cuts down its performance when tuning it. Few tips I found was to leave the low needle stock and the high end needle 2 full turns in from flush/default, Th trim on max on the controller and then adjust your idle to those settings. I was running 25% nitro and it didn't seem to like it much and kept coughing, dropped to 16% (got a 5ltr for a tenner, bargain!) and now it runs much better with a much smoother idle. I am still very new to nitro and this isnt advice, just relaying what I have done with mine to push performance to the max.
