Hi guys,

Just received this today:

She's a beauty!

Apart from the truck, you also get these in the box:

And I have these goodies ready to be fitted on it.

It will be a fully waterproof 6s capable beast!

To be honest, I wasn't expecting much when I placed the order, plus there's not enough info about this rather new truggy out there apart from smash's thread on here. I am well impressed, seems pretty solid and looks really good!

I love those shocks , they are just awesome, silky smooth... 4mm tower's should be fine and I can see quite a few similarities with my ex hyper st pro! would I be lucky enough to be able to fit some upgrades from the ST Pro? I don't know! Something like the shock towers or braces. How would I be able to find out? I don't know, cause I don't have the ST Pro anymore :)

Anyways, will keep this thread updated as changes appear.

Hope you guys enjoy the pics as much as I do :)

Looking forward to paint the body, although I do not really trust my painting skills and I would hate to ruin this amazing looking bodyshell trying to do something too elaborate for my skills!

I like the look of the shell :)

How does the size of the battery tray compare to the losi tray?

Do the stock springs feel up to the task of high jumps?

Weightwise is it much lighter than the ST?

They are lovely looking things, for me, they just do not look as substantial as the ST....what are your thoughts on it compared to the ST so far?

Ya see, that's the problem I have when it comes to other 1/8 truggys - the losi 8T, serpent, mugen mbx6t (which I've always liked the look of) plus all the others out there - I've got my ST and its hardcore, its absolutely perfect - yeah she's a bit old and a bit of a fatty but I love her ;)

other truggys haven't got anything to offer me

One day I might trade her in for a younger model but for now she'll do

Bit like my missus really

;)

(Quick edit)

If I did trade in my missus I'd probably only get some nitrotek branded crap out of it... I mean... is it worth it?

Probably

Did you order via MS and how long did it take to land?

Also, is this the same chassis and running gear as the ss cage truggy?

No, although I do prefer MS instead of anything else I am not comfortable with special orders or anything related to me having to wait... let's say patience is not my strongest point. I did bought the electrics and paint from MS tho' :whistling: .

I got it from wheelspinmodels, it was on stock and was here the next day, excellent services really.

And yes, should be the exact same chassis as the Cage.

Compared to the ST Pro which I've owned, there's not much to compare really, the Pro was beefier in every aspect so basher wise there's no comparison. But, I do appreciate the new design of this and I bet although I haven't gave it a go yet, I bet it would be a better handling machine. I wanted something new and had my eyes on this ever since I first saw it. And also worth mentioning it is brushless ready from the factory which is a big plus rather than having a conversion...

I do not know the losi tray bud, but I can tell you the measurements of this one as follows: 140mm x 48mm and height wise as long as the velcros allow. So it's not that big of a space in there, but I reckon it can be cut right in half due to having the holes in the chassis for position adjustability, so it can be moded I reckon.

Stock springs feel rather soft for big jumps bud, but I know I've seen different springs on ebay.

Weightwise yes, feels much lighter than the ST roller!

I can help with the strength question it's pretty solid.. It's took me pretty long to damage anything at all.. I got over confident and launched of a big jump at my local park at about 60mph and the thing flew beautifully until I came to a sudden stop up the side of one of natures crash barriers (large oak tree) it jumped about 40 feet when I impacted but prior to that I had successfully jumped the hell out of my buggy version same shocks and the awesome.. Hardcore shocks. I've never had a 1/8th before so I can't compare but I'm pretty sure it's solid considering the rate I've destroyed other 1/10 slashes and stampedes, I am guessing most chassis would bend with the tree impact.. Same chassis on both the ss truggy and buggy.. The chassis is slightly different with the cage apparently as I'm having difficulty getting my new chassis think it may be the cage but in the wrong colour.. Battery tray fits two 2sside by side on as if they where stacked on top of each other but

Ah down.

If you figure out the chassis brace fits from the st or 7 let me know..

Hmm... I'm pretty sure the Truggy chassis is longer than the Buggy. As being the same as the Cage, it is just a supposition, nothing certain but we could search for the part numbers to be sure!

I'll let u know.

It's not longer at all it's just the shell that fits externally. I've tried to find the hyper ss e truggy exploded view but can only find nitro version however all the parts are the same including the chassis stiffeners and drive shafts etc.. So I can't see how it can be longer in the chassis or the drive shafts would need changing. There is something fishy going on with the chassis anyway as I've ordered the correct part number from ms for the buggy I brought from ms and I've ended up with a chassis that don't fit... I screw hole missing where on my original there is two.. And the hole left (which is for the motor mount) is in the centre of what should be two holes... It's starting to get annoying now.. Can't even re drill the chassis due to the whole being in such a wrong place.. The rest fits perfectly... Foolishly I left the motor mount till the last bit to rebuild,, :(

The cages got a slightly lower offset I was told today by someone at ms (dunno exactly what that means may be the bends at the edge of the chassis.) as they have been looking at one today to compare (May of been cml I spoke to.. Been at it all day with this and sorting out a quad copter (ps don't bother with a la trax alias as reliable as a chocolate fire guard )

This is my chassis mess..

Spot the difference (excluding angle and dirt for the smart arses out there)

I'm pretty sure the truggy has a different chassis to the buggy might be laid out the same but your find it is longer just look at the rear where the side guards end its easy to see and you can see its wider just look at the arms

Easy way to solve it is both post up your chassis part numbers

The wheel base will be wider with truggy wheels and there will be about 4cm in over hang on the body so that's sounds right.. As I said the centre drive shafts and chassis stiffeners the same size on both infact all ss models I.e cage and gtb nitro electric. I think on of the nitro ones has a slightly different chassis stiffener due to the shape of fitting the engine/motor in. This is the only area they could stretch the chassis. I think that photo must just be the angle of the pic. Either this or some how there is extensions on centre diff drive cup and and front and rear. Plus this chassis any longer would be flimsy with the same chassis stiffeners without being 6mm which isn't. I'd agree with you based on the photo but I can't see how it's possible.

Let me help you with the meaning of the wheelbase:

Wheelbase_and_Track_1.jpg

Track yeah, not only will be winder because of the wheels but mainly because of the much longer suspension arms of the Truggy. As it is with any RC that comes with a buggy version and a truggy version for the same model, ALL truggy versions have longer chassis than the buggy. If you have a look on amain.com you'll see the compatibility of the chassis. I'm done on this subject :)

This is a cage  different chassis ?? no braces front or rear

Below is a Buggy SSe Different chassis but has braces

Below is a truggy

HBSSTE-88eb.jpg

Now how can you say any of these are the same ??  There is no photo trickery at all its clears as day that the truggy is wider and longer even the a arms show it..

'twin fibre brake discs'

Yer thought it was just the motor that provided the braking, unless you add a second servo for the brakes.

Surely that's typo? You wouldn't bother with discs on an e version and even if you got the cams etc, how would you wire the servo up in conjunction with ESC?
