very shaky when setting off?

NITRO NUT

Recommended Posts

hi guys

when i started my nitro and got it going it wouldn't move so i gave it higher revs, it moved but when it was moving it was a very on/off movement so it would go and slow then go again. When it gets going it's fine but starting is a pain, and it has to have quite high revs to go, (i don't think these problems are connected). when i lift it off the ground and get the wheels turning slowly the wheels, axils and the drive shaft all turn like there meshing with the cogs and then not.

any ideas?

have you tried turning the wheels by hand to make sure its nothing in the driveline fouling? eg a warped brake disc

nope i'll give it a try. do you mean when the engines running or when it's turned on but the engines not running.

i'll try but last time i tried to film it it kept cutting out and i couldn't steer it properly because i was holding the camera. ]

what should i include it the vid?

show us how you start it and what happens after you started it and try to drive it. we need to see the "shaking" moments, more than one would really help.

engine off, radio on. tbh i cant really see this being a tuning issue, could be wrong but to me it sounds more like driveline issues. hold a wheel and turn the oppersite side, eg, hold front left wheel and turn front right. do that on all 4 corners

ok, and yes i agree it doesn't seem like a tuning issue, when i'm turning the wheels what should i look for?

and by the way there'll be a vid soon

binding or snagging. make sure atleast 1 of the other wheels is not on the ground though or it wont work

when i do this the wheel opposite turns, the drive shaft wheel doesn't but it does seem to be trying to catch on and the back ones don't turn when i turn the front one(s)? is that right?

if you are turning the front right wheel, you need to hold the left front so it cant turn, this will transfer the turning to the central drive shaft, you will need to make sure atleast 1 of the back wheels is off the ground or you wont be able to turn the wheel. do this on ever corner. if it all turns free and smooth, then the issue is elsewhere. thinking back, ive had simillar from a loose brake pad allowing the disc to move around on the dog cup more than it should which caused the disc to keep snagging the pad

ok i've got a vid of it on the link below

there is nothing wrong with your engine. thats deffinately a snagging driveline. due to the fact that the wheels all do it at the same time, its deffinately not a particular corner causing the issue. so i would check the central drive shafts are not bent and fouling the chassis and the make sure the brake is not too loose or too tight and make sure the disc aint warped. also make sure there is no dirt or stones in the spur mesh. if all is ok there, you might need to strip the diffs

it doesn't turn very smoothly

it's smooth and free and them quit hard to turn with the back and front wheels
