They hold one of the rounds for the Micro Nationals here. The venue is incredible to race on! They regularly get 80 to 90 cars (2wd,4wd,micro) turn up for the day. 95% of the micro's that run are gtb's :)

Gents,

Can you advise which 2S LiPo to run in the Carisma GT14B? all the links earlier in this thread appear to be out of date...

Thanks in advance,

Julian

With a GT14B Pro and a GT16MT recently acquired, I had been looking for ages for 2S saddle packs that fit the GT14B.

I had success with some Turnigy 750mah packs wiring them together myself. I basically turned this:

Into this, 3 times:

And they work really well. Indeed while it is difficult to find 1S cells that are not too long, these ones have loads of space (I use foam insers to stop them rattling about). The standard wires on the packs were very thin but they claim up to 30C discharge, and having 2 sets of wires on each helped me wire them with the balance wire easily. I now have the GT14B  Pro and a GT16MT - both bought for peanuts - running really well, with Carisma ESC's, Carisma 4500kv motor on the GT14B Pro and stock EMB-1H motor on the MT, as I had one spare and thought that could use the torque. Both run really well, and the turnigy packs were less than £15 for the pair in each case. I would not say they are as good as premium "stick" 2S packs, especially for runtime, but for the motors I'm using they are great, giving me around 7-10 mins blatting about mostly at max chat. Since Gt14B pros are often very cheap new right now, its a decent option for blatting, and I find it steers a lot better than the EMB-1H on the road for reasons I can't fathom (same tyres, geo, etc).

Looks good :)

The Phat body shells are pretty god for the the money. The Thumbs design one looks nice as well.
I just painted myself a couple of Phat Body ones, great for the price.

They look great. I like the rat rod style one a lot!! which styles have you gone for?

I was thinking a turbo, a piranha, an optimus or a phathead.

I was also going to go for a mk2 escort shell for display purposes only.

Would you recommend running schuey mini pins or rally blocks? I can see you are running stock

the black rod ends?? they are from trackside spares £5.30 for set of 12

very nice secure fit, I always tap the turnbuckle into the arm with cordless drill, in and out a few times and greased up, that way you get nice silky smooth turnbuckles for easy accurate adjustment, rather than stiff and trying to adjust it and popping a balljoint off LOL

Cheers. Think they are both the 'Pirhana' shell.
I have the same tyres as you in the pic, £5 a set from ebay :) but the best tyres to use for max grip would be the White Rally Blocks. Tried the pins for the first time last week and they pretty good for grip too.

Yellows are not that far off grip wise, and last at least 3 x as long in my experience - on the thin carpet we run on at manor yellows start off the first week too grippy, then give a nice period of good grip steadily tailing off.  White's are better but I can't personally justify the cost.

Yellow compound Mini Pins are very good, i find they offer more consistent grip than the White Rally Blocks and they last longer too. I've found the pins still work really well even when very worn.

If you run the 20mm up front and the 24mm rears.

The cheap £5 tyres that RCMonkee is talking about are good too. You can't really go wrong with a set of tyres that last for a month and only cost a fiver!

Racing tonight Matt :)

Ordered the Truggy shell from Phat Bodies. It will either look the shizzle or just be complete pants lol.
Hopefully be here today. Going to need to at least extend the front body post. Should'nt break another Carbon shock tower with a Truggy shell! Still cant believe i broke one :(

Edit:

It arrived, all painted and fitted. Just had to change the front body mount over for something longer. Be interesting to see if it handles alot different than the buggy shell.
