Next one up?

Recommended Posts

My Dad is going away for a few weeks working, so he'll be pretty ****** off when he comes back after having to get up at 4am everyday and not getting to bed until midnight, anyway long story short I want to buy him a new helicopter for when he comes back.

He has had one for a few months and get good at flying it but as it's only 2ch it's a bit easy, I want to get him something of decent size as this one is, must be electric, and 4ch (I think that's the most?) and for around

whatever 1 you get him just make sure its got a spares back up

i dont know what the double horse is like or the 1 your dad has but i would recomend something along these lines

http://www.rc-choppers.com/index.cfm/product/blade-mcx-rtf-radio-controlled-helicopter-545

or

http://www.rc-choppers.com/index.cfm/product/blade-mcx2-rtf-radio-controlled-helicopter-85

or

http://www.rc-choppers.com/index.cfm/product/blade-msr-x-rtf-radio-controlled-helicopter-542

they are small about 7" long but very robust and all are 4 chanell and last 1 is a bit trickier to fly but can be flown outside and spares are readilly available at lhs or online

Hi mate

If he's only ever flown two channel, I would not go above 2 feet wing span...!

Larger helicopters are gonna do a LOT more damage if you get it wrong. I really would not go above a 450 size this will be plenty for him to get to grips with if he's only flown two channel.

I would recommend a blade 400 or 450 as spares are plentiful and they're easy to repair if he crashes it, which he will! And it is far less likely to put him in hospital

.

Just a thought

Oh, and get him training gear... He WILL thank you ;)

is it a big coax heli he has ?

coax is 2sets of main rotors turning in opposite directions

if it is i certainly wouldnt recomend going from that to a cp heli like the blade 400 or 450 ,you would be better getting a fixed pitch heli , but if you want to go down the collective pitch route get him a smaller 1 like the mcpx

http://www.rc-choppers.com/index.cfm/product/blade-mcp-x-2-rtf-radio-controlled-helicopter-213

yes its a good bit smaller but he will have his hands full learning to fly that with minimal repair costs whereas a 450 size heli will cost about 20 quid per crash and mcpx to a 450 isnt as big a step up

+1 for mcpx.

Ive not flown one but have heard from many who have and they agree its challenging but reasonably learner friendly.

Have a look on youtube for these.

Eflite Mcpx

Eflite Blade MSRx

Eflite Blade sr

Eflite Blade 450

Let us now which one takes your fancy
