Oh How Original Posted April 13, 2012 Share Posted April 13, 2012 My Dad is going away for a few weeks working, so he'll be pretty ****** off when he comes back after having to get up at 4am everyday and not getting to bed until midnight, anyway long story short I want to buy him a new helicopter for when he comes back. He has had one for a few months and get good at flying it but as it's only 2ch it's a bit easy, I want to get him something of decent size as this one is, must be electric, and 4ch (I think that's the most?) and for around Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Larger helicopters are gonna do a LOT more damage if you get it wrong. I really would not go above a 450 size this will be plenty for him to get to grips with if he's only flown two channel. I would recommend a blade 400 or 450 as spares are plentiful and they're easy to repair if he crashes it, which he will! And it is far less likely to put him in hospital . Stormbringer Posted April 14, 2012 Share Posted April 14, 2012 is it a big coax heli he has ? coax is 2sets of main rotors turning in opposite directions if it is i certainly wouldnt recomend going from that to a cp heli like the blade 400 or 450 ,you would be better getting a fixed pitch heli , but if you want to go down the collective pitch route get him a smaller 1 like the mcpx http://www.rc-choppers.com/index.cfm/product/blade-mcp-x-2-rtf-radio-controlled-helicopter-213 yes its a good bit smaller but he will have his hands full learning to fly that with minimal repair costs whereas a 450 size heli will cost about 20 quid per crash and mcpx to a 450 isnt as big a step up Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Have a look on youtube for these.
