Hello im Pete and new to this me and my daughter have decided we would like to buy a rc car but are unsure what to get and what not to get.

Ive always wanted one from being a child but could never afford one so when the daughter said she would like one i thought brilliant, after looking on abay and shops there are just so many to choose from.

Budget wise is any thing around

Either this Imax B6 AC, or Core-RC UAC 50 would do. Arguably the Core-RC is better quality.

As for batteries, Either These, using their solder service to put a deans connector on for you, or something like These from giant cod,

If you don't mind a bit of soldering to put your own deans connectors on I could always find something better value At HobbyKing.

Brilliant thank you as for soldering thats not a problem at all. also if you dont mind do you know of any 4x4 rc cars that are well built like the firestorm.

Thank you

the cars you chose were a perfect example of what not to get,but thats fine cos your a newbie. The firestorm flux is one of the best cars out there and the 4wd doesn't make that much difference unless your on a low grip surface (eg loose dirt). also 2wd can wheelie and get the tail out which makes it alot more fun.

yeah What he said ^^ firestorms are great fun, i have 4x4's such as the bullet, but you need to mod em to make em tough - the firestorms are surprisingly tough - i have a flux system in mine and it'll keep up with a savage(on 4s) in a drag race

nothing but praise for this tough little truck - All HPI seems well built to me, some just have the odd flaw that needs tweaking

Hello yeah ive been watching the footage and they look fantastic i was just woundering if there was anything else 4wd but after seeing them ill deffinatly order one.

A fellow member has recomended these batterys from the hobbyking which look brilliant and are alot cheeper than buying of ebay am i correct in thinking the higher mAh rating the longer the battery will last?

Wombwell is an onroad track, and doesn't race any offroaders at all, so basically none of your options will work there. You'd need a touring car for there really.

If you want to race, the B4 edges out the Firestorm as, whilst Wombwell don't run either there are several other clubs in the area that race 1/10th buggys (Batley or the excellent Robinhood raceway at Blyth for example) but few that run trucks.

Well done you won't be disapopointed yes the higher MAH the longer the runtime. Due to the design of the battery try and the fact you can install supplied bits of foam for a snug fit the batteries where the wires exit out the top are best ie http://www.hobbyking...dcase_pack.html or http://www.hobbyking..._Approved_.html

you are correct the higher the mah the longer they will last on one charge. you will also need a balance charger but that was said in a previous post by GorillaZilla

^ beat me to it!

If you and your daughter are new to the rc world I would highly recommend a "Brushed" Traxxas Rustler first off. Very tough, durable, waterproof and for newbies the ESC has a Training Mode which turns down the wick while you both gain more confidence and experience in car control. Once you are both happy the fitting a brushless system is relatively cheap at about 70 GBP.

RC can be an expensive past time

I can't really recommend the Traxxas rustler, I have found out what I can about it, Its a good Car, As good or better as the Firestorm in durability, Along with good parts support. but doesn't have the quality handling the firestorm has.

The main reason I can't recommend it is the price, Its not great value for money. The low power brushed version is the same price as the Brushless High torque 40+MPH Firestorm flux.

And the brushless version that has a slightly better brushless system than the
