garden / backyard crawler course

If you ever move how are you going to describe a big pile of stones and cement in the garden, rock garden perhaps ๐จโ๐ค I would have left some gaps in places where you could have put some low growing plants in. - Today

Here's another section. This needs linking up to the main part in the middle of the garden pictured above. -
I'm the chairman of Bexleyheath Shooting club. We have two sections. Shotgun and Air. I shoot in the air section but am hoping to get my shotgun licence and join the shotgun section too. I use a pair of Walther CP88 competitions. I'll add some pics when I get home. In the air section we shoot three disciplines: 22 air rifle. Practical Pistol. El Presidentรฉ. Air Rifle is self explanatory. Two targets 5 shots on each timed. Practical Pistol has two courses ranging from 15-30 targets, two shots on each. El Pres is back to three targets gun holstered in surrender position, turn, draw, two shots on each target. Reload, two shots on each target. Gun clear. I've been El Pres champ the last 2 years running and am currently overall club champ for air section.

The 1/18 scale trucks are a pretty good size for most of it๐ I've done bits specifically for the mini crawlers. -

looks good, would like to try my Unitrak on it once i have it built and sorted -
The 3-6v 130 motors I bought are a disappointment. Fortunately 8 for only a ยฃfiver! I hook them up and all I get is a fast pulse (maybe 3 or 4 per second) being sent to the steering servo. Not sure what that means tbh. I figured I would use a 130 motor but struggling to find the right one. I think I just need to find the right N20 motor which are the ones I put in the image above. edit - just connected a 12v scalextric (slot car) motor and got a pretty good speed from it. Thats a 130 size so compatible ones do exist but getting the right spec is so hit and miss.

I've had a crawler course in my garden for years. I had quite a few wall building projects with big piles of stone lying around so I've made the most of it for my crawlers. It went most of the way round the garden. I've made a few bits permanent with cement and stone. But most of it originally was stone and rock piled up. Like my stupid user name suggests I live on a steep hill. It's probably nearly 30ft from lowest to the highest point in the garden, so there's plenty of steep climbs and descents. Here's a picture from the cctv which shows most of the recent work I've done. It's good for 1/10 crawlers and good for mini crawlers. Trx4m is a great size for it. The terrain is very unforgiving (when the truck tumbles down it) , mainly sandstone and a strong mix of grit or sharp sand, so very grippy. I've done this so hopefully I can use it all year round. The other stone found in the local area gets slimey in the winter or very wet weather. The Trx4m tarantula is very good on the course. And here's the Bronco coming down a section.. And here's another little line in the Bronco... Thanks for looking and if anyone else wants to show your crawler course, please do.

Next? making my own body shells...that's next ๐ -
Another injora body. Had a aliexpress delivery of figures. So I got the hacksaw out and did the necessary. Quite a good fit now. I do think he may need some warmer clothing, it's cold up in the Pennines. The only gearbox I could manage to squeeze under this body without cutting sections of the floor/ interior out was the injora forward gearbox. Injora bumper front and rear. It's got the rhino 80a esc and 2200kv outrunner motor. I've only used it a few times. Plenty of power, very smooth, very quiet but not waterproof. And I'm pretty sure the particular motor is good for 4s, the esc 8s. I've tried 2s and that's enough, trust me. Axial ar44 axles, stainless steel links. The wheelbase is about 320 ish mm but does fit the 313mm jeep body. Desert lizard 90mm internal sprung shocks, droop setting. Very good shocks, especially for the money. Fastrax rocko tyres, great all rounder.

FTX/Hobby plus Rock van/Unitrak/power wagon 1/18th
Lone-wolf replied to Lone-wolf's topic in Micro & Mini
I do know the Unitrak body is fixed to chassis where as the rock van has a front hinge set up, maybe there are little mount tabs on the unitrak chassis to screw body down as the lipo sits in a tiny box up top behind cab, i do plan to fit a larger box and may end up running a pair of lipo`s in parallel for long run times -

I went with SCX24 45mm shocks, seem to remember people on the FB group suggesting them -
I expect I will be the only owner as only seen one other posted on here some years ago but what the hell. I've always liked Unimog's and missed out buying a UMG10 on release so been hankering for one for a while. Finally one came up in the UK so snapped it up. Despite a keen following apparently (I stand to be corrected) they won't be re-re'd as the blueprints were lost when when Axial sold to Horizon. Original plastic wheels and tyres have been replaced with military look metal beadlocks and Pro-Line BF Goodrich Krawler T/A KX 1.9 in Predator compound as apparently these are better for lighter rigs than the G8 one. As it came a with original wheels and centre caps and not wanting to lose them I printed a new set to go with the new wheels.

Does anyone know if you can put the unitrak body and rear cage on a rock van chassis? I presume the chassis are identical. Are bumpers and body mounts needed?
