How to remove anodizing?

Here's Cabbies guide to de-anodizing. HTH :good:

Important: this MUST be done outside, and protective gloves and eye wear should be used.

Here's what I used:

Caustic soda.

Bucket.

Mixing stick.

Scrubbing brush.

Scotch brite pads (Homebase in the sand paper section)

Gloves.

Washing up liquid

I first filled the bucket half way and added 500g of caustic soda (about three times the recommended amount), mix it for a minute, (don't breath the fumes) drop the item in and leave it for 30 seconds, the anodising will be gone by then.

Any stubborn parts can be lightly scrubbed, stir the mixture if it looses it's strength, this is the chassis after 5 minutes.

Next poor almost all the caustic soda away but leave an inch in the bucket, fill with clean water, put the item in the bucket and give it a thorougher scrubbing with a Scotch brite pad.

The last step is fill a bowel with warm water and half a bottle of washing up liquid, use a warn Scotch brite pad and give it a good clean, work the pad in one direction for the best finish.

Give the item one last wash with clean soapy water and dry, this took about an hour.
