  1. Thanks chaps, forgot hpi screws were cheese, already rounded 2 getting the servo plate out. Esc fits snugly behind the small motor, if a longer can is needed then id have to forward mount the servo, still might do it to free up some chassis space. Most annoying is the inability to run contact foams as the wheels hit these little bumps on the rear A arms. Could grind them off, think its for a grubnut but cant see any there and they give a spare set 😄
  2. The "Comet" build begins
  3. Send it, it would be nice to get a brushed bench mark and worth a drive if its not going anywere anytime soon right?
  4. It's been a while and a chassis I have wanted to get for a long time. Got a spicy 2 pole brushless and high speed gearing ready to drop. Anyone else speed ran one of these, I've seen people get 108mph so i know the car can do it. Got a propper speed run shell for it this time too, no more launching into the sky. Plan: Do 150+mph get 200kmph hat. 2s - 4s. Low drag body. Custom carbon fiber splitter. 2x 2s-2p 3200mha HV 120c lipo Been impressed with the HPI Savage flux's durability on 4s, diffs holding strong at 70+mph, so I'm excited to see what this will do at Rossa this year. Fairly sure it will blow the FTX banzai's 108mph away. Build pics to follow then a cheeky quick test run.
  5. I also got some carbon towers, knowing its good bye diff bulk heads, take the cheapest weakest part and made it stronger than the diff housings, when roll overs occur now all the force goes into the top of the diff housing. Luckly its not a basher and head flips are rare, just a pre warning try and keep it off its roof 😉
  6. I had 2 absima radios, both died, it was the touch screen version, replace the batteries, and dead... Radiolink are far better and more reliable, just watch the 4gs trigger is a bit iffy, maybe the v2 is better now.
  7. Looks awesome, just sitting maybe a tad low? For front angle of attack, can you flip the bumper mount upside down to give you better approach angle or does it then mess with the body?
  8. When not Rcing or fixing RCs, sports and walks with the lad or pc gaming together, like beamng drive. If solo usally watching youtube RC chans or game dev videos, then into the matrix. 😂 Gotta watch em all 😄
  9. i would try to get the right size motor, thats still very high kv, the gearing here is the key. a high kv needs a small pinion, you cant just stick a massive pinion on, it will not go.
  10. Then it will likely not work and the issue is your putting a too big motor in the car without making the needed mods, like grinding back some motor mount to secure the motor correctly. The pinion is also way oversized for 5000kv, if it was 2500kv you might get away with it, but considering the spur isnt big anyway your going to have a hard time fitting a 540 can motor in a 380 chassis. Yes take your time, get it right and if not keep trying 🙂
  11. Why is the motor not straight, that wouldnt be idea for a square gear mesh, put the smaller pinion back on and take off the wheels, does it cog?
  12. Thanks for the photos, big help. That pinion is like 2x to big. That will cog for sure, can you use a smaller one? Is it the photo or the motor isnt straight.
  13. Got my trx to about 30mph before it hit a parked car with a brushless crawler setup, others are pushing 60mph with major mods. The portals slow it down, amazing they can take the rpm, best bashing crawler by far 😉
  14. Sounds like the bec is struggling with the power drain from the servo, same happens with my lads outlaw and all his lights, turn the wheel the modes change due to the power droop lol
  15. and when the motors in does it roll nicely, have you checked all 3 connectors are bedded correctly, got a photo?
  16. What car is it? If its the buggy you have listed in your profile, it may be a bit high kv considering its size and wheel size. Did you check the gear mesh is set right?
  17. What motor / esc, what car and gearing? Sounds like something is binding, does the car roll freely with the motor out.
  18. I sold 3 airsoft guns over at "airsoft-forums.uk" Im not sure they allow pellets so theres also guntrader.
  19. Till the tire snake bits on a tumble and you end up with semi vented tires without asking for em 😂
  20. I disagree and only use closed cell and 2 stage foams, as i like the tires to bite and not flop about when v pinching or rock crawling. for trailing it doesnt matter, if your after performance its why they are sold 😉 They also dont soak up much if any water making draining them or drying easier, all will take in some water and they all will smell bad in the end. matters how much you maintain the foams also.
  21. Or use closed cell foams, they dont suck up water and usally seal the holes pretty well.
  22. Yes and No, i bought from a uk store that sends it to the uk distributor who sends it to the usa, who sends replacements back to the distributor and then back to the store and back to you. You pay half the postage basically by not having to send it back to your mate in the usa... But sending a 300£ esc without insurance even within the uk is risky thus the high cost from the consumer end. Cant afford to ship back, due to buying secound hand is a burn.
  23. the ebay links in the top, if he did it for 150£ to a forum user id snap it up, its at 210 atm so i doubt he will now go for something lower, massive value here if i had the free money, it would be excellent for spares, just the batteries alone
  24. I bought an castle esc from a mate, uk based, still would have to go to the usa, i bought one from a uk store, still had to wait weeks for a replacment. The warrenty is solid and if its a 300£ esc 45£ is nothing than spending another 300£. GG castle and wheelspin and the uk castle distributors for making up for the wonky USA castle QA 😛
