  1. Hey folks, some of you have noticed that I dropped all my Arrma bits and bobs into the classifieds interested in moving on to Traxxas and other manufacturers but I wanted to get some idea if this is a one off or if in fact more people have a similar experience with the above compnaies. Trying to keep it short, I started out buying Arrma in Nov2019 (Kraton 8S) awesome looking truck - receiver was DOA - looked through the included paperwork - 2 year warranty contact HorizonHobby - did that got a notification back: sorry not purchased through HorizonHobby contact your LHS. Contacted my LHS, took ages to getting it resolved, meanwhile threw another receiver in the Kraton to actually get it going. Bought a Granite BLX 3S a few weeks later - all good upgraded it - awesome little fun truck. Bought a Notorious 6S a few weeks later - awesome little stunt truck ... Had an issue with my DX5 Pro - called Horizon spoke to a chap in the US who quickly sorted it out, I spent more time in the queue than with him really. Bought a Mojave - now directly from HorizonHobby - inflated price but it wasn't available in the UK anywhere in the colour scheme ... liked the smart stuff in the Kraton 8S bought another Firma 150A for the Mojave again directly from HorizonHobby - installed it, ran it nice little upgrade vs the BLX185. Drove the truck again, truck cut out - ESC is completely freaking out - only detects 4S has a new setting option - they are supposed to have only 11 options now I got 12 and the option I should be using has only two options vs 4 it should have - basically the ESC is toast or whatever firmware they have flashed on it vs the OEM is lost ... ok, as now I had purchased everything directly I again called their support. Over 2 hours in the phone queue I hung up. Sent them an email instead and again get referred to the same sh!t company that seems to back all the UK LHS anyway. I am obviously furious and already made my mind up with regards to Arrma / HorizonHobby after different things came up with my Kraton 8S eg shock springs grindings on the shock body - in the US people just got sent new ones I was referred to my LHS who contacted LogicRC who told him to F off that would be normal use - it wasn't as per review of a few Arrma fanboys. Then Arrma releases the upgraded version and offers kits in the US for $25 - I contacted HorizonHobby again about those upgrades was referred to my LHS. Went to my LHS who called LogicRC who didn't know anything, called Horizon and he was told - they may offer something similar but he shouldn't bet on it, surely not before end of May and he should advice the customer to purchase the upgrades from their website directly or through him as these wouldn't be significant changes - wait, newer radio, different parts that stop the truck from bending itself? not significant? well screw it .... I went ahead and purchased the parts out of pocket to install on my truck. I have had too many instances in my short time with Arrma / Horizon that I am fed up already willing to throw their stuff out but I seriously wonder about that business practice - I consider Arrma's warranty terms who are publicly available on their website as well as included at purchase and as such part of the sales contract but they don't seem to need to fulfil these at all. Distant seller regulation - buying from HorizonHobby which is obviously based in Germany puts the contract onto European level UK-DE contract and surely they cant refer me to someone not clearly being mentioned in any sort of contract or at purchase to fulfil their support? As for Arrma's so often praised lenient warranty terms and handlings - the only time I can see those happening seems to be in the US while people in the EU (I got different messages from people on the arrmaforum) seems to be exactly the same way how I have experienced it - not existent, delegated to LHS or distributors and surely not as laid out in contracts and warranty terms. So, I know there is more UK if not predominantly UK folks on here I am asking the question again: is this normal? is this your experience as well and how are you dealing with it? I don't call this a rant but seriously breach of contract - whats your thoughts? and how is that with other manufacturers like Traxxas as an example in your experience? before I buy into another shine but sh!te company promise?
  2. 3. Notorious or Mojave to get rid of choice is yours mate
  4. interested in a Arrma Mojave 6S, Notorious 6S or Kraton 8S?
  5. I actually havent tried it on the grass but I would think the tires arent really suitable for it and due to it being quite low it may not even work at all ..
  6. depends what you consider long grass I did cut the grass the week before and it arrived on the weekend - worked fine the tires are actually bigger than I expected Edit: attached Latrax 1/18 next to the TA Reflex 14b 1/14
  7. Something to put into my Kraton 8S a little bit of power and at £50 ridiculously cheap for the power it provides Raminator Monster Truck PM1373 High Voltage Digital Steering or Brake Servo Servo Case Size: 65.8x30x57.4mm Mounting Size: 75x17.5mm Weight: 200g 15 tooth Speed: 0.15sec/60 Degree at 6.0 volt. 0.13sec/60 Degree at 7.4 volt Torque: 62kg / 6.0volt. 73kg / 7.4 volt All Metal Gears Aluminum center case.
  8. different GoPros and different mounts head, shoulder and chest as well as selfie stick and tripods DJI Osmo camera gimbal / DJI Quad with follow object function always depends but most of the time lazy with GoPro and headband
  9. I dont think I did and your response if what I was looking for - this may also be related to areas? here I meet up with people and we occasionally add more people to it as we meet random people at the same spots we go to - I think due to the various different media for people to use its de-centalised you dont have people only looking for alikes eg on here but all over the place some people dont do facebook (me included - so if you look for bash buddies on there only you may not find me). there are plenty of vendor focussed forums where people roam instead of overarching which may also contribute to this Age surely may be another indicator - boys get old but never grow up I was told so I (45) keep having my toys and for some reason I am always able to surround myself with people who are like-minded and seem to either get attracted by what I do or they have already decided for themselves to take this sort of hobbies on In RC I however generally see these ups and downs or people saying in the past everything was better and most of it is based on their past experiences and current absence of what they enjoyed really
  10. this one and a Losi Ten Rally X I converted to SCT
  11. the missus got attracted slightly recently and I got her the Latrax Tenton Pink which does run nicely in our small-ish garden - the little one 2.5y'o is still on the TA MT28 before I probably need to start handing down a model ..
  12. I have used https://www.fasteddybearings.com/ since my helicopter days and never had any issues
  13. interesting comment - as OP I also wonder about the attraction, having picked up rc cars seriously since Nov2019 I do wonder what you mean by that? Without wanting to hijack but could you elaborate on the statement? When I look at eg SCX10 Deadbolt II - looks nice, has a few options to upgrade but slow, looks sluggish to me compared to my Granite, Notorious trying to stay at scale - Losi Ten (5+ years old) and my Mojave or Kraton 8S are just beasts ... when I look at the Arrma forum the amount of people joining on a daily/monthly basis is I would say huge - so I really wonder what you mean by as you once knew is dead I keep looking at crawlers but cant really see the attraction yet - I hope OP doesn't mind me asking the question
  14. Gaz - check your EC5s some insert from the back (genuine) others from the front I assume you got ones that need to be pulled into place causing your issue - always best to figure it out when buying them from other places
  15. I think the messaging is quite incomplete on this - I agree staying safe seems from a logical perspective to practice social distancing ... been out with the boy and the missus for a long walk (exercise) and the amount of people being out and about and adhering to the 2m distance is interesting to see - though plenty of plebs who dont seem to care. wrt to taking the car out - I am fortunate that I got a enclosed car park big enough to run a 1/7scale even but I rather go to a field and run it there - I do understand the point of others may do the same but back in the old days where transmitters could cause interference or most flying clubs have spaced out stations anyway I heard a nurse the other day stating one shouldn't even go into his garden - it was news to me as to the current understand covid-19 is not airborne its also interesting to see the amount of people "exercising" or just out and about to avoid the cabin fever - I'd say there are options to make it happen and even safely but too many fools just spoiling it so a blanket ban is easier to articulate but surely also difficult to enforce - I haven't seen police in our area for quite a long while its a tricky one but I rather take the car out than not getting out of the house at all - with all the by-laws in place councils are pushing us out of highly congested areas anyway ... so from a health and safety standpoint of view this is surely much safer than going going shopping, accepting deliveries or post etc just me 5p
  16. if you look at the 6S and compare it to the 8S - the 8S doesnt look typically upscaled like eg a Losi which is literally upscaled it has plenty of parts that are a complete redesign
  17. I got legal insurance and just fight them on the basis of false advertising, could even take Arrma up with trading standards as the warranty t&c is part of the package and if not applicable it requires clear statements on the outside of the box at least to my knowledge and investigation so far - if my assessment is correct the legal purchase contract is void and I should be able to return it at full refund even with use of the goods ... dealing with a LHS can be a real pain in the backside - shipping costs etc etc if not local thats why I went with arrma - since I know about this fact, I have ordered my kits direct from HH, I know more expensive but direct touch which I dont mind paying premium for ...
  18. you think? I saw a video posted on youtube about the K8S - having had a Losi Rally X and a Vaterra Kemora on the shelf for years and barely run - disposable income available, did a bit of research, found statements about superb support, support handling, replacements and warranty and decided I want to own the king ... well its only later when facing issues that I found out that all the praises of support only seems to apply in the US and that here I am forced to go through my LHS who go via a distributor etc - a **** show in my eyes especially as the warranty T&Cs the truck comes with say otherwise ... you dont need to be committed to anything, lose change in your pocket and being attracted is all you need to buy something like that
  19. was at my LHS - HH will do a similar scheme in the UK but not before end of April beginning of May - they wouldn't confirm a price to them yet
  20. any chance you could copy and paste the entire comment? dont use FB ... interesting about diffs and pinion - wondering what their new findings are what they should have gone with ...
  21. late to the conversation ... To be fair, he can complain - he got the kit for free, they fixed his and sent him some spares - I couldn't care less about his opinion as he didn't pay a single AUS for it ... I have approached HorizonHobby about it - they are just pushing back, go back to your LHS for anything - unlike Arrmas reputation for superb and direct service I have experienced far the opposite lately - even referring to the warranty T&Cs doesn't seem to make a difference for the folks in Germany ... which is a real thorn in my eye at the moment with regards to the upgrades, apparently those aren't free and people who do reach out to HH in the US get offers of $25 for the parts - I totalled them up to roughy £75 so this wouldn't be too bad as a owner of the truck who bought it almost day 1, actually it was day 3 ... but then again, as a UK customer you don't get access to HH directly and it seems the guys in Germany are generally not as customer friendly as their US counterparts - I opened a thread on another forum to get other peoples experience with Arrma/HH outside the US and apart from a few responses on the thread I received quite a few PNs from all over Europe (16 as of today) where people feel con'ed by HH, pushed through 3rd party channels and not having the same experience of helpful customer support as the US boys and girls seem to have. So even if HH is offering this, there is no clarification or guarantee if this is available to everyone globally - which I strongly doubt - I am still waiting to hear back from my LHS that I have given all information and proof I could find to liaise with I believe LogicRC and HH to see if such deal exists for people outside the US as well .. not that I really need it, I got a M2C chassis on the shelf in case I do bend it but I bash gentle, don't send it like crazy so potentially these minor improvements push durability for my use-cases even further so I may not even need to swap to a M2C at all ... I am not sure but after all this I feel less excited about Arrma as a brand no matter if their trucks are rock solid or weak as Suisse cheese ...
  22. the 3S Senton should be the same shocks as the Granite - so its the same ... I use the Typhon 6S on my Granite now which I consider much better - came at a price but was ok with that
  23. I just know how to use google correctly took me literally 35 seconds to find those in stock only because you listed the wrong part# ...
  24. here you go mate https://www.boltonmodelmart.co.uk/z-ar330527-shock-shaft-eyeletspring-perch-set-rr2-79101-p.asp
  25. I didnt expect it to be this big either but it was a nice surprise - its quick, I did put in a 25kg servo and used some t-bone racing stuff like mud guards etc to kit it out
