  1. Maybe but surely the Max8 combo would be compatible with each other. Anyway, I’ve been able to squeeze them in and then realised that I needed to take them out as the body shell wouldn’t fit 🙈 I’m going to have to resolder the cable at 90 degrees to the plug to get it to fit.
  2. Did you have any issues fitting the motor to the esc? 20 minutes and brute force was what I needed to get the bullets to fit. The middle ‘B’ will not go all the way no matter what I try. I can’t see how they will ever come out to switch them over if needed.
  3. Is it new and where did you get it? Just wondered whether you have spoken to the store and thought about rejecting it?
  4. They are not that poor it’s just yours for some reason. If they were all like that we would know about it.
  5. What capacity are the lipos? They’re not so low that they only last a little while and then the LVC cuts in?
  6. If a motor has already over heated it could be goosed which means it’ll get hot even when there’s nothing to make it hot anymore. My son has this issue. Can you identify any cause at all for it getting hot in the first place? Hard constant running through long grass, up hill, continual running while stationary, eg into a wall? I’m a bit lost to be honest as it sounds like you know what to look for.
  7. Do the wheels spin freely? Try disconnecting the motor and spinning them. Sounds like something is binding. How have you set the pinion/spur mesh?
  8. I used to have sticks when I was younger and hated the idea of gun types. Eventually I gave in and tried it. They’re second nature now and I have much more control because instead of a thumb controlling the small movement of a stick in order to steer I have my thumb and fingers gripping and turning a circle which is a greater distance of movement. This allows for much more precision which, with the speeds these things go now is a very good thing.
  9. Have you driven through any wet areas? The wheels are terrible for collecting water that cannot escape. I soldered 4 holes into my tyres for the water to escape when driving. It improves everything massively as you discover how much trapped water effects the cars drive and durability.
  10. That’s odd. The motor is pretty good as well. If it’s overheating something isn’t right. If it was the esc that was going poof then I could understand it.
  11. It’s more how the CVDs are loose in the knuckles rather than the wheels which aren’t too bad at all. It’s disconcerting yes but it’s not an issue. If you want to tighten up steering response buy some sway bars.
  12. The random pictures show all of them straight as they should be. The problem with a bad solder is that it doesn’t always show itself straight away. If these things came with decent warranties then I wouldn’t care so much but £160 for something that isn’t warranted past 6 months means I’m asking the question as I see something that hasn’t been done with care.
  13. I was just about to fit my new HobbyWing Max 8 when I noticed that the top capacitor in picture is wonky. They are also at slightly different heights. Ive checked my Max 6 and Max 10 and they are all lined up straight as an arrow. Is this an issue at all?
  14. Has anyone else noticed the inconsistent elliptical spur/pinion mesh or is it just mine that does this?
  15. As above, it’s the stones that get in that shred the gears. Dirt will wear the teeth away slowly but it is the stones that ruin them in a single hit. By enclosing the spur gear area you will prevent this from happening. If you have the newer Carnage with the closed off under tray below the spur gear then I would say the carbon top plate would be a bad idea. It is this tray that collects the stones and the carbon plate will just allow stones in on mass. If you get the aluminium chassis it has the hole for the stones to drop out of and cause less damage. I would choose the aluminium chassis over the carbon top deck for this reason.
  16. I paid £11 from the states for my Losi tray. Arrived very quickly so I bought another. Again, arrived quickly without issue.
  17. That looks really chunky. I agree those rims are spot on.
  18. Those wheel nuts are quite good but I did need to use blue locktite on them with my ST. Without the locktite I had the unpleasant experience of watching a wheel fly off mid full throttle leading to more cartwheels than my brain could keep up with counting 😲
  19. I’ve not got any experience of the issues you’ve mentioned on the Vantage unfortunately but I would advise against buying the aluminium arms. The lower leverage of the Vantage arms and smaller wheels means it’s less of a problem anyway but in the event you have an impact that would break the arms you would also bend the aluminium arms rendering them pretty much useless. Plastic is much cheaper than replacing the aluminium arms each time.
  20. PS37 translucent red backed with PS63 gun metal and then black.
  21. Great thread idea, this is PS 59 backed with silver and then black...although no longer mine now.
  22. Hyper ST Pro after I took the rear wing off.
  23. Thanks. It’s good to see it can be done but I’ve had to ask some important questions that they don’t answer, such as, do you overspill the glue, how has it held up when flexed etc.
