  1. I would change the standard receiver pack for a 6v hump pack. I use the HPI Plasma 6v 1600mah in my Hyper but others are available. For the transmitter rechargeable 1.5v 2500mah batteries are good
  2. Decided to seal the engine on my Hyper 7. Fitted an Rx and set it all up, forgot how noisy Savox servos are! Not ran it in a while, engine barely ran in. Pretty much a new buggy.
  3. Remove the glow plug and visually check the element is still straight. Put it into the glow starter and ensure it still glows. Is the engine a turbo or normal head? Post a pic of you glow plug if you are unsure. Ideal plug will depend on nitro % used and engine compression ratio. What fuel are you using and what nitro %? If I flood an engine I remove the glow plug and the fuel line from the carb inlet. Pull the pull start to expel as much excess fuel as I can. Refit glow plug and turn the engine over until it fires and burn off the fuel. Most of the time I can get the fuel line back on the carb without the engine dying. You do have to be careful to not let the engine completely run out of fuel here as the engine will obviously run lean briefly. If the engine keeps flooding like that giving you no chance of starting it I would start to lean the needles a bit. 1/4 turn in on HSN and 1/8th in on LSN and try again. Also check your idle gap isn't to small. For break in I keep at 1mm. If you aren't already get the wheels of the ground and rest the chassis on something sturdy. Assuming you are right handed, hold your transmitter in your left hand whilst resting your wrist on top of the glow starter. Right hand to pull the pull start. Soon as the engine fires try give it some gentle revs to clear the engine. Remove the glow starter and keep the engine alive through gentle revving. Make those adjustments and see how you get on.
  4. Put the glow starter onto the glow plug and the meter on top will move.
  5. Hello and welcome to the forum Where are you located? Someone local to you may be able to give first hand help. It is a little difficult to diagnose issues in text but we will try. There could be a number of issues, carb settings way off, glow plug dead, glowstart battery flat, engine flooded, no fuel, air leak..... list goes on. As suggested it does help to pre warm a new engine if the pinch is very tight but starting can be done without. I wouldn't leave the glowstart on for an extended period of time, it's a sure way to kill a plug and only shows the engine is way to rich. Even for breaking in. I find pullstart better as you are able to tell(through experience)what the condition of the engine is. When you say the engine is cutting out after 5seconds are you just letting it sit at idle or giving it a little blip of throttle? My guess is the carb settings are overly rich and the engine if flooding, then you try to restart without ridding the engine of the excess fuel. This will give no chance of starting it. Does the pullstart get harder to pull once it cut out and you try to start again? Is there unburnt fuel exiting the exhaust? Persevere, we where all here at one point. It's worth it in the end!
  6. I break in engines on RTR then switch to the race blend, will be fine. Upload pictures to an image hosting site. I use postimage, free and not full of ads or social media rubbish.
  7. Probably my favourite land based Rc I have owned. Awesome truck prefer it nitro over BL. Taking mine for a blast tomorrow, bit of gearbox tuning needed but hopefully won't take to long.
  8. Mine's gone from this To this Too this Full thread of it's journey HERE
  9. Lower end of budget, brand new, everything included. Battery and charger. Spares and upgrades easily available with the option to upgrade to brushless and LiPo later. I would suggest this Traxxas Rustler The suggestions for a Hyper7 conversion is all well and good but will probably end up ballooning your budget and risk of buying something that is in need of more attention than someone new to the hobby would like. Mine and many others suggestion for this budget would normally be a HPI Firestorm but seeing as the models and spares are not readily available right now Traxxas is the way to go.
  10. Well turns out, I am stupid The pinch bolt is in two half's and only one side is threaded. So pass though the bolt on the un-threaded side and into the threaded side for the pinch bolt to actually pinch! Resealed carb, thread lock applied everywhere that needed it now I am happy with how it ran last time. Weather looking good for tomorrow and no school for the boys so we will be out for a bash. Hopefully get tune dialed in and actually get into second gear. I will try and get some footage but my eldest son will have to play cameraman with my phone so could end up with nothing
  11. Welcome back Post a budget for your charger and I'm sure you will get some suggestions. Either throw some fuel tube in the basket when you order a charger to save on postage or I guess Ebay. Savage is life
  12. Wasn't really much to see mate only put half a tank through it before I found the carb trying to escape. I actually have no way of recording, need a cheap action cam don't I!
  13. Well the sun came out for a bit so took the Savage for a little shakedown after the complete strip and rebuild. Fired straight up which was a good start. Nice smooth idle and popping on acceleration. Didn't really have much room to stretch it's legs as I stayed in the carpark while my boys drove around the water logged BMX track. So no chance to really get a final ballpark tune or sort gear change. I got all my linkages sorted so there is clearance for everything, smooth and snaps back the carb slide with no movement while braking. After taking this picture I noticed the rod end wasn't where it was supposed to be ? Harder springs are holding the weight nicely and it doesn't seem to lurch around as much under acceleration, cornering or braking. Will have to see how it performs on landings. I was bringing it in after each pass just to check it over and discovered the carb had come loose so I will be removing the sealant from the carb neck and just let the pinch bolt do it's job. Overall happy and can't wait for better weather to give it a good run.

In fact I've got loads of NOS strc parts for Blitz/Firestorm, had totally forgot about them until I read your post above... must have a rummage and see exactly whats lurking at the bottom of the parts box...
