  1. My girlfriend bought it me and told me not to build it so I guess not lol
  2. Re Arranged everything slightly, put a few things for sale and then made a plan of whats next on the hit list (NSX's and Porsche's)
  3. I've sold a few, and got a few for sale, but added a 58170 Supra! Team Castrol Gran Turismo Vibes Bottom left two are for sale, as well as the TL-01 Supra. IF they sell ok, Ill be on the hunt for an NSX and then some Porsches....
  4. I always wanted the Castrol Supra, because of the simple fact, Gran Turismo 2/3 were a massive part of my childhood. It was one of the first RC's I looked for when I decided to start buying Tamiya's. I thought Id lucked out when I bought the TL-01 Castrol Supra 2000. I paid less than £100, and thought it was the same as the Castrol GT, but its basically the original before it went to the gym. As soon as I got it, I realised I needed the TA02W version, it just looks so skinny! I've tried to photgraph it but its not really worked Its only a few mm, and it doesnt show on camera, but the extra width in the arches makes so much difference. At least in my opinion 2 piece wheels vs 1 piece make a huge difference too. Might make a Castrol Race Team.... My two Gran Turismo 90's legends together at last! So what now? I think eventually, I want to get the brand new shell/wheels/tyres mounted to a brand new TA02W. Shouldnt be too difficult to replicate, I could potentially do it with parts I have. Maybe even onto a hopped up Carbon Chassis. Im starting the emphasis on quality not quantity, and also need to save space, so I may sell a few more models and focus on what Ive got. For now, the brand new shell/wheels are wrapped in bubble wrapped and boxed. I think knowing I have them, make it easier seeing this one a little beat up. A bit like someone wearing a fake Rolex watch in public, so it doesnt matter if it gets scratched, or more than likely these days in England, stolen. but knowing they have the exact genuine model boxed in the safe at home.
  5. So today I looked into what I had.... Lets start with the chassis. I thought the TA02W was just a standard TA02 with Wide Offset rear wheels. I have a brand new never saw outside TA02, so I was going to build the new shell onto the new chassis and potentially sell the wingless/mirrorless used example. Not over night but eventually. However, I noticed Red front Hubs (TA-01)... Turns out theres a fair few differences so for now that plans on ice. The TA02W is actually a chassis that only had 3 models on. https://tamiyabase.com/chassis/58-ta02w#models-with-ta02w-chassis Effectively available from 1994-1996 with 3 bodyshells. It just seems so much more scale to have a wider rear track from 90's bruiser cars, wish we got more of that from Tamiya instead of just plonking everything on a TT-02. Here's mine I runs and drives as it should. As its a used example, my plans have changed. Im going to run this in the summer.... The chassis The Width of the rear dish. This is what makes this Supra so much more desirable IMO than the Supra 2000 (more on that later) Compared to the front I initially thought the width was only different on the rear, but turns out the front uses the older TA-01 Hubs (red not blue) This gives you a much better stance in the rear
  6. Finally got hold of one of these. Ive wanted this and the Pennzoil R34 for an age, and Ive been luckily enough to sell a few models to put the funds towards them. Id been looking for the Pennzoil for around a year, without seeing one, so when one finally appeared I got that. The Supra was more difficult however. Id missed a great one in November last year, not sure how, but other than that Id just saw NIB ones go for over budget. I ideally wanted built but never ran (at least with the shell, the chassis is just a basic TA02 I think?...... more on that later) But this is the next best thing as to whats included….. Thanks to Kuhfarben/Truck Norris. If you’re not familiar with his builds I suggest you check them out here https://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom.asp?id=43050 Unfortunately mine isnt finished like the above and I obviously wont do it justice but hey. Tamiya 58170. Toyota TOMs Castrol GT. Now this is built, but is used. HOWEVER, this comes with a caveat. Included is a brand new shell, brand new decals/masks, brand new wheels & Tyres. I could simply use the wing and wing mirrors from this used example. The shell and wing etc are Unicorns. They dont exist. The decals are obtainable, but appear to be around £100. I felt at this price point, and being from the UK, this was the one to go for. So no messing, I was told the price, and I paid it. Few days later this arrived. The Unicorn bits..... Next post.....
  7. Haha, Im 37, but had a Tamiya aged maybe 7? So Tamiya has kinda come back to me. I really went off Tamiya, you can find my posts from years ago moaning about Tamiya. I cannot stress how much everything Im buying lately is ‘for me’. Its the RCs childhood me saw in magazines, or Beatties. Its the RC Models of cars I used in computer games as a lad. Guessing this is my midlife crisis
  8. Expensive, unless youre an older Tamiya Nut who ran something similar as a kid,Id look elsewhere
  9. So Ive sold my RC10CC and two Tamiya Touring Cars to fund some new purchases. This is my latest and probably favourite (although now I have them both the Pennzoil R34 may have over taken this). Ive been outbid countless times on these, in various conditions. I ideally wanted built but never ran (at least with the shell, the chassis is just a basic TA02 I think? But this is the next best thing as to whats included….. Thanks to Kuhfarben/Truck Norris. If you’re not familiar with his builds I suggest you check them out here https://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom.asp?id=43050 Unfortunately mine isnt finished like the above and I obviously wont do it justice but hey Tamiya 58170. Toyota TOMs Castrol GT. Ive basically paid for this: The wheels and tyres (wider 10mm offset on the rear to really make this stand out. The shell and decals are obviously brand new, and I can use the great condition wing and mirrors from the shell. The painted shell isnt too bad, so I dont know wether to just mount the new wheels/tyres (which arent rare you can pick then up for circa £50 in the UK) and store the decals and shell. IF I pluck the courage up to paint the shell (its just white but decals are scary and I cannot for the life of my paint PS31 Smoke properly! Id get a pro to do it, but its literally a white shell lol?) Plan is to maybe even build up a brand new TA02W, with hop ups and period electronics. Ill get some better pics and comparisons with my TL-01 Castrol Supra 2000 which Im sure will show my obsession with this 58170. Grail ticked off. Were getting there!
  10. So Ive bought 3x RCs this year. 3 important ones to me. Ive spent £900, which is alot when I said no more RCs for a while. However, Ive made £594 off RC sales, with 2 more to potentially sell. Not as scary as I expected!

    1. Alex97

      Alex97

So you've spent £306 this year!

      The maths doesn't lie!

Which is absolutely astounding considering I was doing double that a month last year haha

  11. Added a Top Force Evo, giving me a fair few off roaders now However, Ive said goodbye to a few, more will be revealed
  12. Ok, so Ive had this since September. Lets just look at the facts. I have £550-600 in this buggy. I thoroughly enjoyed building it. I know I didnt need Brushless System and the servo may be over kill. I also have a Slipper Clutch and TA06 Gear Diff, and the spare wheel. But thats where it is. Now I know Im the guy who is used to much more powerful/larger scale R/Cs. Im usually out with my X Maxx, so going to this Tamiya was a bit of an odd choice for me. However, I really wasn't gelling with the BBX. I couldnt help thinking how much better off Id have been with literally any other RTR. I struggled to use it, which is probably more on me. It wasnt good enough off road, and it just span a bit too much. I adore how it looks, and the build, but dare I say it, I was massively dissappointed with the BBX. As I say, its probably a me thing. I compare it to say a Rustler 4x4, which can be had for similar money as what I have invested, and it just doesn't make any sense to me, other than being far prettier. Im well bitten by Tamiya now, and my Traxxas' etc sit gathering dust. I've picked up an Top Force Evo, and my plan was that 2WD was the issue not just the BBX, so I was going to strip the BBX of its electronics, put them in something else and maybe move the BBX on. However, I decided to have one last bash today. I didnt really want to drive around a car park, but I struggled for places to go. I charged up a 2S lipo and off I went.... Ironically I ended up at a car park, because Severn Trent are doing some work on the 'stoney bit' so..... I genuinely had a good time. It seemed to perform a bit better than I remembered. I probably had it out more today than I have since Ive owned it combined! I still spin out under braking far too often, and maybe Id benefit from a slower power system (as the lipo was charging, I pulled out a 1060/Superstock BZ combo to downgrade too) but I had quite a bit of fun. I even moved Severn Trent's cones to make a little track. Here's the Top Force Evo I intended using over the BBX..... Not sure now?? Maybe in the Spring Ill find some dusty tracks and the BBX will come into its element. So for now, the BBX survives the chopping block!
  13. Took the BBX out for a spin, and you know what I genuinely enjoyed it. Glad I gave it one more chance as I wasnt getting on with it before!
  14. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?item=335250796317&rt=nc&_trksid=p4429486.m3561.l2562&_ssn=derekpowell911 Thanks
  15. KV, Voltage & efficiency are the main factors. Theres 2 Pole and 4 Pole Brushless motors, and obviously 4 Poles have slightly more torque. I'm no expect but Ive not heard of frequency in terms of RC motors
  16. With this weather we need RC Boats not Trucks haha

  17. I received a Top Force Evo yesterday but was too bust to open it. It was brand new but built up for a very good price. Thankfully, its all there in perfect condition! Truth be told Im not getting on very well with 2WD, especially my BBX, however, I've not even used my Astute 2022 so Im not going to moan about that yet, but the idea was to buy a Top Force Evo and take the electroncis out of the BBX or Astute and use the 4WD Top Force. Unfortunately, Ive fallen into Tamiya's trap. Theyre too nice to use! With my Traxxas models, I couldnt wait to get them dirty, its different with Tamiya. Hmmmm. The Top Force is no different, its beautiful, so god knows whats going to happen. Anyway Its a very handsome RC IMO Carbon Goodness! The Holy Trinity of ReRe's. I really need to build the Avante dont I? My Tamiya Off Roaders. So what's next? This might shock you, but Ive decided after around a year of working REALLY hard and re buying lots of Tamiya's....... Ive got too many, so this weekend Im hopefully going to put 5-10 up for sale........ I need the space truthfully 😞 However, Its also going to allow me to HOPEFULLY pick up 1 or 2 new R/Cs, but everything I want now is too rare or expensive to justify a 1 in 1 out policy. Its going to be more like a 5 out 1 in policy....... '
  18. It all wprked out in the end haha
  19. So im going to tell this story exactly how it played out...... at least thats what my girlfriend thinks....... As I stated prior to buying the Pennzoil R34, I was 'banned' from wasting money on R/Cs, at least for 6 months. That went out the window when the Pennzoil came up...... However, truth be told, Ive only ever 'understood' and wanted the Touring Cars from the 90s when it comes to Tamiya. I started this hobby in 1994, with an M-01 Mini Cooper, and I lusted over the Rally cars and Japanese Touring Cars in Beatties and the Tamiya Catalogues..... Now Im in a better position financially, mainly because Im no longer 8 years old, Ive been doing that. But other than the Hotshot, that my friend had handed down from his Dad. I knew next to nothing about anything Tamiya did in terms of off roaders. However, on my Tamiya journey, I've realised that theres some really special off road Tamiya's that exist. So as Ive been part of various Facebook groups and forums, Ive ended up wanted some of these off roaders, and have been lucky enough to obtain an Avante Black, Egress Black, Astute 2022 and a BBX. For some reason, the Top Force Evo stuck out, and it became a model of interest. Id been eyeing them up brand new.... Recently, I was also lucky enoough to nab an RC10CC, from my LHS, on the first run. I got the text message it at had arrived and straight away went to pay and pick it up. I got home and was like, hmmm. I dont have any emotional attachment to Associated, or the RC10, or even RC Racing. So I stuck it on eBay before Xmas, for a not stupid but higher than RRP price, and truth be told forgot about it. It sat sealed in my collection. Randomly, I then got the notification it had sold, for a decent price, nothing crazy, but hey that wasnt really my intention to profit massively. So off it went. Now back to the Top Force Evo. I noticed one for sale on a facebook group. I never buy off Facebook unless I personally got and collect. However, some beer's may have been drank, and I may have struck a deal for a 2021 Top Force Evo, built but never used. I feel it was a good deal, so off I sent the funds. Today this arrived. Its beautiful! Ill get better pics, but its all there. Now thats the story my Mrs heard. Truth is, I bought this on Sunday, after a few beers, in Pizza Hut for her nephews 13th birthday........ I then lucked out, because earlier today, someone bought my RC10CC that I forgot I even had for sale on eBay and saved my bacon! So the one in one out policy worked, and I even made a little bit of money. MAN MATHS!!
  20. I still have two, I regularly run one of them. Treated her to some brand new Sledgehammers few weeks back;
  21. Managed to get a Pennzoil R34 GTR on a TA03F Some R34s The Tamiya’s plus the Associated
  22. Arent the M2C extenders over £100?
  23. I saw this cool little device on Tamiya Club and ordered it after a few beers. Id forgot about it to be honest. It was only about £25 and it allows you to bascially use a lipo to power/charge USB stuff. Lets be honest theres always something around the house that needs charging/powering these days. Here Im using a 2S lipo to charge my iPad Pro as its a little too high for storage. Better using the power than just discharging it on my charger IMO
