Gussy up the ol'girl, slap some fresh paint and some unnecessary ally bits on it and increase the already exorbitant cost for a truck that blows it's tremendously unsatisfactory ESC 3 runs in. 🥰

    Ah, Traxxas.

How do you figure? It's the equivalent of 783 quid in the US.

It's objectively bleeding expensive over here. Not subjectively. 😂

Why are you mentioning how much something costs in another country? What relevance does that have?

Its also £783 plus sales tax over there…..

Explain to me how sales tax makes a difference to Traxxas and you win a cookie.

Plenty of RCs are £ to dollar equivalent. Losi Promoto for one.

It doesnt make a difference to Traxxas, but when you buy something in America, as an American for example theres a sales tax, similar to what we call VAT. So for example the £783 would have sales tax on top of it, which varies from State to State, I believe upto around 8%. I guess it would be like UK showing prices without VAT. Not debating its cheaper in the US, but its not as clear cut as you make out.

I also believe the Promoto got a massive price drop after some backlash with the original UK price, but hey, point taken.

However, you dont like Traxxas, Im quite fond of Traxxas, so regardless were never going to agree on any thing are we haha 🙂

Oh, I like Traxxas. I had an original Hawk. 😂 I've got a slash, just sold my Xmaxx (as you know) had a Revo 3.3 and various others. They *can* make innovative cars and have the power to do great things in the hobby. They also are recently a great source of evil. Crazy pricing is part of that.

Maxx Slash for example. It's a Maxx with a longer chassis, short arms, big shell and smaller wheels. Current UK price for V2 Widemaxx = £580. Current price for a Maxx Slash = £759. Wild.

Incidentally, the Maxx for whatever reason is pretty much dollar to £, which brings the whole thing back around. 😂

All I was saying about sales tax is Traxxas don't give a ***** about that, it doesn't affect them, they set an MSRP and go with it. Sales tax varies all over the US, is set by individual states and 5 states don't even have one, so it's not like they can account for it at manufacturer price point level. So, if it costs 780ish quid in the states for Traxxas AND the hobby shop to make a profit, we're looking at a £310+ cost to get a single Xmaxx unit into the country (considering they do it in bulk) without Traxxas loading the price? Don't see it personally. But that's just me.

Here’s my thoughts, £780 in the states plus a typical delivery service say £20, yeah so thats a bargain considering its an American based company selling to an American customer.

now if we want one we have to pay more, first off, shipping, yes “by the boat load” but that and having it flown over has gone up quite a bit recently due to the situation were in at this time.

Then when it does arrive to the U.K it has to be unloaded, processed then ready to be shipped off to next, the cost of diesel has also risen along with staff wages and again the world as it is.

then onto British trucks, we had a massive shortage during COVID to the extent where i even had a letter asking me if i wanted to return to driving, so wages increased massively if you where a dedicated trucker oh and that old diesel thing again too…

so at a regional hub, smaller vehicles delivering to their own distribution hub etc. etc. etc.

by the time its in our hands, its been in twenty others too all at a cost to us at the end of the chain.

but some people (myself included) choose to, shall we say, suck up this cost, because its what we have chosen to buy, its the reality we live in today im afraid. Don’t forget that all us rc’ers are fortunate to have this little bit of luxury when so many cant afford to “exist”

the other option would be to fly over and get one in your luggage for the return trip, would that cost more than £310 to do?? I genuinely have no idea :good:

so yeah, thats my thoughts, also just to mention, the hobby shop slice of the pie is very small too….

Price aside, it is good to see the RTR version come with belted tyres. Essential for 8S shenanigans really.
