Is there even room for anything other than a stick pack?

The more info that comes out, the worse it gets 😂

Ridiculous Tamiya Idea #438:  Changing the battery

    Loosen two screws at '1'

Remove two 'body clips' from steering assembly at '2'

Lift shock and steering bellcrank sub-assembly '3' out of the way, pivoting on shock ball ends '4'

    💩

Skip to 54:56 - They don't even get the battery out 😆

It's over engineed, look at the inspire 4 buggy to see how it should have been done.

I’d never heard of it and just looked at it on a weebly website that said a Kickstarter in 2019 failed to raise the required backing - any news about it since then?

I’m not a Facebook user, is there a website with details?

That’s the website I saw, maybe I misunderstood but that suggested the project went on hold in 2019 when the Kickstarter failed - there’s no pricing or release info that I can see

That's all on Facebook, you can view profiles without signing in.

The Inspire4 is £449, the TD-4 should be significantly less than that.

TheTD-4 is not meant to be a top-end race buggy either.

The $449 quoted for the TD-4 is the MSRP, suggesting a shelf price of$300-320.

Hopefully the UK / EU price will be reasonable

Edit: news suggests £305 to £325 UK price, due in October.

I get that, but what is it meant to be then? I grew up with Tamiya and I still have a lot of love for some of their stuff (I think the TT02 is an amazingly capable stock racer) but I just don't get what this is.

Too weak for bashing, too impractical for racing, too ugly fir the shelf! 😂

I was getting interested until I saw the battery palaver, to quote the Dragons "I'm out".

    £306? I recently paid £150 for a brand new PR Racing Sb401r.

    I just don't get it.

Does anyone else think it's ridiculous it doesn't come with a slipper clutch? That's going to be a required upgrade to use a brushless motor with ball diffs.

Don't forget it will not only include bearings (!) but also a silver can 540 and an ESC you'll probably bin too 😆

If you're dead lucky, it'll even have a butter-soft alu pinion which you'll have to replace as well
