    I wondered when they'd announce that servo saver. It was on their MT pictures a while back and I wanted to try it out as the Kimborough doesn't allow much customisation.

    Those wheels and particularly the tyres are WAY TOO BIG for the 4-Runner / Hi-Lux - looks like somebody planted a 4-Runner body on a Unimog!

    Not a very scale moulding a 4runner.  Though should one come up at a reasonable price I may have to acquire my first scaler to mount it on.  Agree wheels are far far too big, and from how much hassle it was I don't think many had solid axle swaps either.

    The 4runner was known as the hilux surf here. Both US and UK versions were independent front and solid axle rear vehicles. Seems the wrong vehicle to pick for a scale truck

    A friend of mine had a surf which had been fully 'monster'd'. Jacked right up with a solid front axle. He never would tell anyone what it cost to build though....

    Not quite.  The 4runner was the 4runner here, limited UK release, from what my dealership told me they sold about 2000 unit - all the superior 3.0 1kzt lump, twin batts but otherwise pretty dire standard spec and the outgoing Jap model, for a vehicle around 25k list in 1994.  I had 2, one around 5yrs old from it's original owner, and the second to canabalise - I paid the same for it as a poor runner as 4 new tyres - which coincidentally it had on and I needed :)  It was proper yota quality though - as proved by my ex wife who wrote 2 other vehicles off rear ending them and the 4runner driving away with no repairs needed, just some cosmetic scuffs and little dings.  Rear tailgate was great when it worked, alas the sliding rear window carried a lot of moisture in which rotted the sliders in short time.  One of my favourite memory's is how often kwik fits etc would sheepishly come back to the waiting room to ask where the hand brake was :D  Sold them when new career meant I needed to treble my weekly mileage and fuel prices we're skyrocketing - the monthly saving on derv almost paid the repayments on the year old 118D Se I replaced it with.

     

      All the Jap imports we're badged Surf - and most we're the 2.4 with the dodgy head till the later generation came through.

    That servo saver, so simple and so effective.A bit like the HPI Baja throttle linkage. I feel a bit of machining coming on here.
