if theres a 1mm gap, and if you continue to unscrew the idle screw to no effect, then it points down to a false idle, and of throttle link problem.
start the car and hold the carb shut with your hand. does it lower the idle and then increase when you let go? if so thats a false idle, and you need more pressure on the throttle spring.
if you ever have engine issues, start the car on a brick with the radio turned OFF. (yes omfg thats so not what it says in the manual!!>!?!?!?)
that way you eliminate one variable. if you then manage to get the engine to run and it then acts up when you turn the radio on.. well what does that point to??
