yahhhhh
It's a nice site and all but the prices for most things are not that much lower than if you buy from mmr.

Yeah but that's on the hopups Check out the stock HPI parts... Price for stock axle cups MMR £24.99 Abbotts £9.99 And it's the same for pretty much all the HPI baja stock parts, oh and with Abbotts you know it's in stock as it tells you how many are available. m3lyc
I think I might get another Baja, this site is CHEAP. It's one of main reasons I sold it, parts were expensive. But looking at the fuelie 26S engine, on abbots (without filter or carb) £122.99, on MMR (with filter and carb), £229.99. Add a filter and carb to abbots, £167.97. stebro
Abbot are great I got some dog bones on sunday and needed to add to order but had to pay extra over internet and not phone as that was how I did order. I didn't have access to met so they put them in the post any way and told me to pay when I got home. They don't even know me as I haven't dealt with them before pm I will be using them again as there service is better than mmr any day. And stuff was here next day too :-)
Mrp
I can confirm MMRs new and massively improved website will be up and running from next friday with LIVE stock, also word on the street is if you are able to order something and then find its out of stock you get that item for FREE. Now thats 1 hell of a commitment from the UKs biggest retailer for largescale. As also stated Abbots is a 1 man band breaking kits down and selling on at very low profit margins. MMR employs staff and is currently sat on around 100k's worth of stock right now alone, imo its not really fair to compare the 2. KieranBolton
Didnt you have live stock levels before though gareth? Hope you can pull this off i really do, unless i can see MMR going bust However, abbots have started to do aftermarket parts... that are slightley cheeper than MMR's prices... Saying that though, Abbots is killing MMR at the moment, especially in recession because there parts are so cheep
miniripper@mmr
I can confirm that Jason's garage business is having no impact on us at all Kieren. Our sales are strong and we are growing every month. We have never had live stock levels on the site. I am stunned that some even try to compare us together the only thing we have in common is that we both sell HPI Baja parts. MMR employs 2 full-time employees and 2 part time. We have a full retail shop An out door track free to use for all customers. An in house engine tuner and we offer a full repair service. A dyno We run monthly indoor events We have one of the best looking sites and as soon as the new site is live one of the best. We are always checking out the forums we are almost always contactable in one way or another. We are official HPI dealers and TBH honest we have never sold a HPI engine to a client. Clients have bought them and we have offered other cheaper alternatives. We all know the HPI engine is a CY engine. We have been selling a 29cc stuffed 2 bolt engine complete with clutch and carb for
stebro
If you on a budjet or just tight like me and you need parts what are you going to do go to somewhere that sells them from a split kit at a great price that you can afford or go to THE largest Supplier who Is charging a hell of a lot more. Of I understand over heads and stuff but in todays market you can't make a big profit on any thing. And I know there is stuff that you can't get in Abbots that you can in mmr but for everything else I will go to Abbots or Ddm. Thats my 2 pence and more
ukbajadave
For me the best thing about abbotsrc is that you don't always have to buy a whole parts tree to get one needed part
miniripper@mmr
I hear you and understand. If anything Abbots us making more out of you selling cheaper parts than we do. So if you want my advice don't be fooled into the cheaper prices push him for more discount. He has zero overheads he can sell parts for next to no profit we dont have that option providing the services we do. So the next time you order press him for more discount! Don't let his cheap prices fool you into impulse purchases.
miniripper@mmr
For me the best thing about abbotsrc is that you don't always have to buy a whole parts tree to get one needed part <img src='http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' Now that is a good thing. I'll give him that. But it must very very time consuming.
The Trooper
Thats not really fair mate, what you need to realise is MMR buy things brand new from HPI and abbots break SS kits etc. Look at the hop up prices you will find MMR and Abbots pricing is about the same.. Thats my 2 pence and more As i said, MMR buy things from HPI at cost price and need to sell them on and make something (its a buiness after all). You need to remember, Abotts stuff come from a kit with no warranty, MMR comes BNIP and with warranty etc.
toys4x4boys
I can't wait for the new MMR site to go live, If it's got live stock, and the prices are the same or better than DDM for aftermarket parts ( I buy genuine HPi parts wherever they are cheapest ), I'll shop there. If there is still the same markup that most UK sellers seem to add ( Yes even taking import duty and shiping into account ) then I'll stay with DDM or direct to manufacturer if possible. I don't mind waiting for overseas delivery if it cuts out a level of mark-up and overhead.
miniripper@mmr
We buy direct. On the big sellers items from the below. HPI Turtle Racing Hostile Racing Threashold Moddified RC Chacal RC Silverback RC Micro Hobby Kraken RC Uber RC GH hobby We have been for a long long time cheaper to any of the above from us than importing but you have to factor in the 20% extra for vat taxes and shipping. I understand that everyone shops around that why our prices are keen as. We are as competitive as anyone out there in general.

toys4x4boys
all the best MMR never shopped with you but feel strongly when you have to defend yourself on a forum. They don't have to defend themselves, they choose too, and that's one of the things I've always liked about them
