nitro star t3.0 vs 18ss

hey, i just bought a t3.0 for my hpi rs4 3 evo from ebay, i was origionally bidding for a 18ss but i contacted hpi and they said that the t3.0 was the biggest upgrade for rs4 without engine mount modifications so i bought one, but 18ss are alot more expensive. so does anyone know what the difference is?

the t3.0 is a g 3.0 but with the same crankcase as the t 15 has so a direct bolt on fitment so no need for engine mounts and the its an 18 too , the ss has 1.5 hp the T 3.0 has 2.2hp @ 31,000 RPM hope this helps

i think your probably better having bought the t3 over the 18ss had an 18ss and found it very problamatic and it wasnt that much faster than the t15

I know I’m a bit late here but for posterity sake, the reason why the 18ss is more expensive is due to the “collectivness” and rarity of it (more especially now). The T3.0 is newer and out performs the 18ss however. 
 

That being said, I’m a fan of all of HPI’s engines. I compare them to the stability of a Toyota. If you know how to tune and take care of them, they can last forever.
