Ziggy122
hi im just breaking my engine and it is reving too high and smoke is coning outof the glowplug and in the manuel it said cooling air is being blocked and i dont know what and where it is so olly if it is reving and smoke is coming out the glowplug its obvious u need to tighten the glowplug up Its leaking air in = High revs Air cooling - Just made sure there is air reaching the cooling head At idle it aint as easy as if it was going full pelt U may find slackening (the glowplug) while starting, once its started u need to tighten it back up Ziggy
olly
yeh ive tightened it and it is still coming out of the exoust massivly and which way do you screw the idle and where is the cooling air (is it the air filter or what is it?) smithy1135
The cooling air is all around you. And smoke should come from the exhaust...
Ziggy122
yeh ive tightened it and it is still coming out of the exoust massivly and which way do you screw the idle and where is the cooling air (is it the air filter or what is it?) exoust - dont you mean Exhaust Anyway That is where the fumes actually come out you know During break in process there will be heavy fumes, as there is alot of fuel entering the engine (and some leaving) The air filter is where AIR ENTERS THE ENGINE And air cooling is the surround air around the model, u cant control this Ziggy
kellaway
You want to have an lot of blue smoke comeing out the pipe while you are breaking the enigine in. These nitro engines dont run like normal car engines, where if you get blue smoke its an bad thing! kellaway
You need to either ajust your trim on the controller or ajust the idle screw on the carb in small 1/16th amounts
Danny-B-
like Switch posted in his thread, just check your transmitter hasnt been reversed on the throttle channel There should be a little switch to reverse it on your transmitter. kellaway
lol! If you look under engine tuneing it will be in the manual with an diagram showing you where the high speed needle is the low speed needle is and idle screw is.
bmw nut
well find the section in the manual that tells you where the idle screw is,its not rocket scence
Matt B
If it's revving very high then it most probably won't be the idle screw. If you take a look down the carburettor neck by taking the air filter off, and the gap is really big, then something has been set up wrong with your servo's or the transmitter. What car is it? olly
now i read it it dosent tell you which way for idle i think it might be 1/8 clockwise is that right
Matt B
It's clockwise to screw it in (raise the idle) Anticlockwise to unscrew it (lower the idle) Also it might not actually be revving too high, as a newbie that lived near me thought he had to slow it down from break in setting lol
olly
so should i carry on without adjudting anything
Matt B
Are the wheels spinning fast at idle? If they are not moving at all then it is fine.
Danny-B-
Olly, we dont mind helping people here but do us a favour and make sure you read the manual, read stikied threads here and listen to advice we give. No point just asking a million different things. Before you post make sure no one else has had the same problem, read the manual it usually does tell you enough information to identify things. Sorry for the lecture mate but when your tryin to help people and they cant even be arsed to find things out themselfs its a bit of a kick in the face. Good luck though mate,
