Hello there,

Heres my story I currently own a nitro powered off road buggy and I am very keen to get into R/C drifting. I have looked at the modelsport website and I’m interested in buying this particular model -

http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFunction=...mp;ItemID=26025

Just wondering is this a good start for a beginner? Anybody else bought this and what’s the pro's and cons of this model?

I also want to upgrade the battery so I have more play time, after emailing modelsport they sent me these 3 options -

http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFunction=...mp;ItemID=20640

http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFunction=...mp;ItemID=24370

http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFunction=...mp;ItemID=24791

Which one of these would be the better option? Or is it the case the more expensive it is the longer the play time.

I also want to buy both the yokomo under car neon set and the yokomo active LED light Unit Set (V 2.0), are these easy to fit or should I get my local model shop to fit these?

:helpsmilie:

Thanks :good:

The Yokomo is a good kit, as its specifically designed for drifting, and you should be ready to go out of the box. if you want something cheaper, then you could perhaps get a Tamiya tt-01 and fit some drift tyres to it. However if you are willing to spend on the Yokomo, then it will be a lot easier as everything is already done for you.

As for the batteries, the Ftx stick pack will give you the longest run time as it is 4200 mah. The higher the mah, the longer the run time ;)

If you are looking for a cheaper alternative for batteries, then these are a good option. (the first two).

As for fitting the lights, it shouldn't be too difficult to fit them, and will save you some money as opposed to your modelshop fitting them. I imagine that the neons will be easier to fit than the lights.

HTH :good:

Thanks for replying James, I just have another question you said the higher the mah, the longer the run time. After looking at the link you posted this battery pack caught my eye

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/7-2v-NiMH-4300mAh-Re...dZViewItem#nogo

It has a higher mah than the FTX and is cheaper, but would it fit??

And the yokomo active LED light Unit set, to fit these would I need to drill into the shell??

Im not sure if the RX-7 will come with light buckets for the front because it doesnt have flip up headlights or anything (you can do a custom job but it isnt easy to get a good look). If it has light buckets though, any light kit will fit it i think ;)
