Fastest WLTOYS 144001 Build

Andrew WL

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am looking for some advice on a speedrun build. The car I am using is a WLTOYS 144001 (1/14th 3650 motor) with a phat bodies shell. Images attached.

I am looking to go as fast as I can, over 110mph.

Can anyone advise on motor, esc and battery?

Thanks

That looks awesome man! I have one of these too (in stock form) & never could have imagined it looking like this.

Best of luck with your speed runs 🤞

This is a pretty common build so loads of good information about, if you're on Facebook there's a few groups set up for 144001 speed runs with loads of good information.

Hi,

Yeah I am on these groups. I though I would give it a go here. Trying not to copy anyone in the facebook page.

Thanks

Yeah, this is the one straight from the phat bodies website. It's not mine.

Currently building a 144001 with phat bodies escort mk2 shell. Want to do a speed run also.

There's some good ground work on these Facebook pages already but some of the people can be, error different!

I'd be looking at a 120-150a ESC with a very low turn motor 3-4t.

I think a lot of people convert them to run MOD 1 gears so you can get the gear ratios closer to 1:1 (make it faster). You'll want foam tires, 1/10 touring tires should do, I'd go for the harder ones as they'll last longer.

Capacitor banks is also something to look into. It reduces any power drops. Cooling is something to be taken into consideration so perhaps invest in a few fans to help keep things nice and cool.

Hope that helps.

@Andrew WL I run speed runner RC's at ROSSA UK events and earlier this year another runner Mark did over 114mph with his 144001 so they're very capable once set up correctly.

Check out his channel on YouTube, "Birmingham GT RC": https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCh5jRMBgoRofqZB0b8GIYmA/videos

If you're interested I've some foam tyres for sale on eBay currently but you'll need 12mm wheel hexes to run them.

eBay link to my 45 shore tyres for sale: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/324265121277

Best of luck. 👍
