shdaxner
Well here I am, back in the game! After completely selling up 4 years ago an old friend messaged me last week asking if I was interested in a truggy they were selling, after some negotiating we agreed on a ridiculously cheap price which I could not really refuse, as a result I am now the owner of a brand new and never used Hobao Hyper SSE truggy. So, what has changed in the last 4 years? I see Arrma are now the "top dogs" when it comes to bashers, what happened to Hobao? forum seems quieter in general? Tug
No, they're not top dog, but their offerings are worth considering compared to other brands. Especially when you look at prices.
Vr5fx
Welcome back! Arrma arn't top dogs, just like anything in this hobby they break. 🙄 Very nice and tidy models though. I still feel the ST pro and Hyper MT are better bashers.
babylon
Nothing has changed in the last 4 years, Brushless systems are all pretty much the same, Same goes for lipo, Only real change is brighter colours and flashy boxes, Anything Hobao makes is still as strong as anything else on the market. The other problem seems to be distribution, Take Hong Nor, As strong as anything, Supposedly distributed by SMD Direct, But they have nothing on there website, Thunder Tiger is RipMax, Again nothing. GMballistic
OOhhh he touched a nerve with some of you saying that "Arrma are top dogs". 😆 @shdaxner You're right Arrma are doing very well of late releasing lots of new models last year including 1/7th scale and 1/5th scale. I really like what they're doing. Good that you're back having a go at RC. Enjoy your RC and have fun which is the most important thing. Tug
Don't get me wrong, I'd have a Mojave in a heartbeat, but finances say "no!".
Paul Busby
Arrma doing well due to the popularity of the Kraton and Outcast as general bashers. Pretty active community keeping the brand spreading and well supported. The active community is also a plus for newbies, as they have plenty of people to talk to when learning.Other than the radio and the servo, most Arrmas 6s are pretty good out the box and with a few upgrades to prevent chassis bending, they're really tough. Aftermarket has a lot of options.Lot of Arrma haters out there, but then there are also a lot of alternative options out there which are easily overlooked due to Arrma's popularity. Are Arrma top dog? Depends what your criteria are, but I'd probably say they're a jack of all, master of none. There are better bashers, better racers, better jumpers, faster RCs... But with something like a Talion you can get a bit of everything at a respectable price.
