Help needed..Upgrading on a budget.

Recommended Posts

Hi

Faily new here. Well I've been looking around for ages but now finally got a car

I bought an ansmann macnum for £50 off ebay and have set about upgrading on the cheap as I am going to build a racing buggy too (not on the cheap)

As it stands the car is running all standard and my god is it slow and unresponsive.

So first things first I put some shock oil in... All I had was 60 so that had to do

I have ordered a few bits that should do the trick.

The transmitter and reciever and the steering servo are not my first choice but got the free as compo for a faulty 1/18 car I bought.

The motor and battery were the about the cheapest I could find.

I'll update once it is all here :)

P. S can someone tell me how to make my photos show in the thread?

The goolrc 3500kv motor arrived and is in. Pics will follow once I figure out how to get them to show in thread :) the ESC has a power button that I have not seen before. It's not a flick switch like all others I've seen it is a push button. Well 2 push buttons. Push to hold to turn on and off. Both buttons seem to do the same??? This is not shown in the Instructions tho so not sure.

3s lipo also arrived. Charger due tomorrow. (never had lipo before?)

So I got the motor and ESC in place and being so impatient plugged in my lipo.

Held down a power button. 2 beeps. Esc fan kicks in. Then nothing. Before I panic I assume the battery would have been postage in storage state so maybe voltage too low to get motor or servo going.

My next question is gearing rated.

I am going to be running stock gears. 19t pinion and apologies but didn't check spur before it went back together.

I am looking for acceleration. Quick burst of speed. Not top speed. Am I better off sticking with this setup or changing to bigger pinion and smaller spur.

I've read so much about gearing my head is fried lol.

Anyway thanks in advance to anyone that replies.

New pics soon.

Jon good choice of first car!Make sure to read your manuals and ask many questions. 3S may be a bit much for this model so try and get a selection of pinions and gear appropriately.

I prefer to buy second hand as the config is mostly fun

All parts arrived aside from the servo. Didn't realise it was coming from China ?

Anyway wow what a diference it has all made. Its pretty fast and the new transmitter and reciever has made a big diference with response. I managed 5 mins of driving before I crashed and snapped the front chassis plate. But it was a good 5 mins lol.

Here is how it looks now.

New chassis piece on order so hopefully next week I can get some proper drive time.

Glad you're happier with it, for what appears to be not a huge spend! Enjoy it!

Hi all.

My front shocks are plastic and the top keeps popping off when I crash.

I know the answer is to not to crash but I assume metal shocks will stop this happening??

it will help yes
