Just abit put off as it's says I need a PC too use it lol, don't want too buy it then have too spend a week online too get it going lol

I run lipos upto 2s at the moment but I'm after a starter box for my nitro and I fear this will need some clout too power it, so can this charge different size/type's of lipos at once?...eg 2s on one output,  say a 6 on another??

Any input greatly received...Cheers MSUK ?

Single output charger and tbh, it doesn't have the clout to use parallel charging.

As a single output charger, is capable of high mah 2s pack charging at a full, 1c rate.

Hmmmm cheers Noj....any recommendations as I will be charging max say two batterys at a time, but want the ability to do more if I choose..;

Did see a thread below on a dynamite iirc but @£150 it a touch pricey BUT if it will fit my needs I'm game, long as I don't need too buy more leads/boards/ shares in Microsoft too use it lol

Where does it say you need a pc? No charger I know of needs a pc to work but some support extra functions via pc. Where are you reading dual outputs there is only one?

Imho, you can never spend too much on quality charging equipment that future proofs for changes in cell number and mah.

As per, Dazzles has posted some good links..... If space is an issue, the all in ones are beginning to come on in terms of wattage. I run three dualports, all requiring separate PSUs, which take up much bench space when all in use together.

While we're on the subject (and apologies for the thread jack!), what difference does a higher wattage charger make? I understand that a 6a charger could charge a 6s lipo at 1c, but how does wattage effect things?

James, power consumption for charging is measured in watts.

2s, 6000mah pack = 6 amps X 8.4v (always take a single cell as 4.2v for calculating) = 50.4w of power consumed to achieve a 1c charge rate.

Typically, owing to natural losses within the circuitry, you should add 10% to the calculated figure.

So, the bigger wattage the charger, the better it is at 1c charging.

Make sense?

Many thanks again dazp ?

It's all to do with watts 50/60w charger won't charge a big 6s at 1c.

@dazp1976 will be along shortly for the full blurb as I'm on my phone.

Noj got it about right chap.

Use the formula Amps x Volts = Watts

Based on a 5000mah battery:

2s (7.4v) x 5000mah (5A) = 37W

3s (11.1v) x 5000mah (5A) = 55.5W

4S (14.8v) x 5000mah (5A) = 74W

5S (18.5v) x 5000mah (5A) = 92.5W

6S (22.2v) x 5000mah (5A) = 111W

Also remember to add 10% for efficiency losses ie: the 6s would want at least 111W + 10% = 122W!

These are based on 1C charging. For example If you put a 6s on a 50w you can set it at 5A but the charger will peak at around 2A and go no higher as it don't have the wattage required.

When I paralell charge 4 of my 6s my psu reads 485W in use so the formula is spot on bar 3W.

Daz, I was taught to use 4.2v per cell, rather than the given pack voltage. Is this incorrect?

Not really no. Does give better headroom tho when choosing chargers tho. I was taught 4.2 as well, many a folk don't think of it as 4.2 due to batts being listed at nominal 3.7v so they just go straight to that. Just have to remember to add the 10%.

Looking at the rates I get on my digital psu there's not much in it either way. +/- 10w in it.

You'll need 2 extra balance boards and  4 of your preferred connectors on fly Leads :)

Its an amazing charger :)

I think not including four boards is a bit weak, after all, it is a quad charger......One could say the item is not fit for purpose, were pedanticism strong within a person....

I just feel abit wary of mixing an matching electronics when it comes too this sort of thing lol, the boards dazp linked are probably more than safe/suitable but jus would of been nice if they offered it as an option...

Plus it looks like I will only use the two pin connection on them boards so all others will go too waste lol
