Matte Shell

Hi, I've got a clear shell to paint for my Slash, I'd quite like to do it in Matte Grey like this:

Anyone used this?

if I paint it as normal using grey paint, decal it then seal the outside of the shell using that?

Another Option is painting the exterior of the shell using this?

any ideas what's best?

thanks

I would say grey the inside and matte the outside. Then if it gets scratched up, it would be just the matte finish that gets damaged, and this should be less noticeable than if the grey colour was removed.

ive used the tamiya equivelent before and it works really well.

You simply paint the inside with whatever colour you wish and then use the matte lacquer on the outside

Heres what mine looked like. I used the window masking decals on the outside of the shell in order to leave the windows gloss

I haven't used the one you linked but I do use this one

It knocks that gloss look off and should give you the look your after, however I have never tried it over stickers so not sure how it would react.

I havent used the dullcoat  you linked but B&Q do a selection of dullcoat not sure if they do a clear but I have used them on the outside of a couple of shells I just used a lexan paint first then added the dull coat

Do you spray that on the exterior?

Went to a Model Shop i havent been to for years, but knew it was good for for paint. Managed to get the Tamiya Matte spray. Decided to go with Red which will match the beadlocks on my Slash. The aim is to

look like the Frozen Red limited edition Paint that was offered on the E92 BMW M3...
