I looked at that matt as well , but would be a right pita to use if it does work , i spoke to a product specialist from HK and they could tell me no more than we allready know , so the ESC must be made by aliens lol..

In 11 days time when the wife finally lets me get my hands on it I'll take one for the team and try it to see if it works.

the esc is a rebadged unprogrammable esc like the old ansmann ones don't expect much from a rtr esc

Any recommendations for a replacement?

What about the motor any good?

A replacement esc is dependent on what you want to run 4s or 6s and what your willing to pay for I'm running this at moment http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__22632__Turnigy_TrackStar_120A_Brushless_Short_Course_Truck_ESC.html

Enough to make it drift but for 4s I'd have to say this bargain http://shopping.rcmodel.hk/esc-and-servos-electronic-speed-controllers-team-orion-vortex-r8-brushless-esc-130a-4s-p-19132.html 6s either hobbywing or take your pick me personally I'd have this http://shopping.rcmodel.hk/esc-and-servos-electronic-speed-controllers-team-orion-vortex-r8-pro-brushless-esc-180a-6s-p-19133.html

And as far as the motor goes it's just see how long it lasts

What about this combo, I've got the 1:10th scale in my Sand Scorcher.

No the esc is too weak it only does 140A burst current which is about 600A short of what you should be running

hell that esc has less power than what some 1/10 touring cars run

For the money the Orion r8 I linked earlier for

I had that hk combo and the esc blew on the second set of batterys , the esc blew when swithing on , the motor i still have in hyper 7 conversion , hk set a replacment esc , which was the 120amp sc esc , only run it once but it is way smoother delivery than the old esc ..

Capri-boy I've used them for loads of things they even mark price down for customs I got my speed passion combo from them worked out insanely cheap

Shipping on that esc is $11 and its a lot better than the wpsc8

Cheers.

The total Inc shipping is $64.25 it will still let you buy it but on backorder, what happens if it's been discontinued? How do you get your money back?

I'm not sure with this retailer - some of the HK ones will 'hold' your fees waiting for stock, others will give store credit.  Fatboyneil might know?

The r8 isn't discontinued they are what comes with the latest Kyosho mp9 and as far as cancelling your order I think you have to ask for a refund or its credit but if you've ordered it it will come if it's not going to be available quick enough these tend to cancel and refund your money anyway and how do you know it's on backorder these don't do backorder their a retail outlet not like hobbywing if it's let you order it means it's just a day or so delay waiting for stock from suppliers

It says if it has 3 stars next to the order they can't fulfil it, but I'm wondering if that just means once you order it they order from there suppliers?

If I ordered that esc and the two option diff parts it's roughly

Don't worry about the three stars every order I've made has had them now this motor should beat your brothers as long as his is the standard 1950kv motor http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__19114__Turnigy_1_8th_Scale_4_Pole_Brushless_Motor_2100KV.html it's also a case of battery c rating the higher c rating the better acceleration you'll have

Now that is a cheap ESC.I seen you mention the Speed Passion combo.I tried one of the SP combo's in one of my AE trucks and I must admit it was the worst set up I have ever had.I think it was the Reventon and it was bought from a dealer in HK.One the first bench test the esc blew so I used the motor with another ESC and the motor went tits up.I might have had a dud I think.

Any way, what tyres would you recommend as the stock are too hard.

Thanks

For tyres I'd say sweep gt but be careful there's two types 81mm diameter wheels and 84mm wheels for these 1/8 cars including the hyper gt you need 84mm there's loads on eBay http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=111716234015&globalID=EBAY-GB just be sure to get either 40-45 deg and possibly the treaded style slicks really are just for ultra smooth tracks

I took mine out today and what a blast! Big grins everywhere.I had two 2s in series and the throttle kept dropping off so I put a 4s hardcase in and the thing flew! I am having problems keeping the wheels on though. The nuts keep backing off but I can live with that for now.
