Gaming laptop build, must haves?

Hi, I need a laptop, so I figured I'd buy one that can play games on too, we like games like world of tanks, world of warships looks fun, we played GW2 too & used to play WoW, so I nearly bought a 2015 Alienware 13 earlier today, then I come across pc specialist you can configure a laptop to whatever you like, so I've chosen a 15.6" case with a gtx 970m, but this is where I'm a bit lost, I'm not sure what's a must have when building one from scratch?

Any suggestions?

I went for this one, my missus is getting it got me for my birthday, it's been built & in the testing phase now!

Looks good but hard to find stingray reviews.

new laptop is here!

it looks stunning, all metal case, clevo written on the back, feels very nice, but I don't like the fact it has no disk drive & windows 8 is dog poo!

windows 8 gets a lot of stick, but i personally like it, 8.1 was even better, looking forward to the windows 10 upgrade also
