Nitro removing paint from wheels

Recommended Posts

I have a 4.6 Trophy Truggy and the excess oil spray from the exhaust has rubbed the black paint off the wheels on that side! I will probably repaint them as i like the black wheels, but anyway to protect them so it doesn't happen again?

Nope...not really.

You have 2 problems here.

1) Nitro fuel is a good paint remover

2) Nylon wheels are tricky to paint as the paint struggles to adhere.

This is why most people either leave wheels the colour they are moulded in, or use dye. Otherwise...just accept there will be a need to regularly re-paint the wheels. I've not found anything that works. Trouble with dying them is you need to get the tyres off first really, and that can be a pain.
