Smoothybb Posted March 31, 2014 Share Posted March 31, 2014 So someone's selling a torsen diff for a hyper on fleabay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=161261272780 Now the box says torsen but the diff is clearly a spider. The seller even explains it uses the 6 planetary gears as oppose to the torsen setup. Even when someone points it out, he refuses to budge (errr how long does google/wiki take??) and continues to try and sell it as a torsen. I don't know whether to think it's a con or if he's just pig headed enough not to listen. Presumably he didn't buy the spider new in the torsen packaging. Only bought 2 new and neither came in that packaging. That'll be a slight facepalm moment then!! to my knowledge Torsen differentials dont exist in RC dunno why ofna call it a torsen differential but there you go its on the box Proper Torsen diffs do exist in RC, the hypers are just one model that uses them: http://www.rcmart.com/ofna-87326-torsen-differential-center-diff-hyper-p-9113.html That description is correct of a Torsen differential but not of a spider. Have been toying with getting Torsen's for mine but the real benefit is only gained on high traction surfaces like tarmac, not a lot of use on dirt from what I've read. At 70 quid a pop, it's quite an expensive experiment as it's best to marry a centre with a front.
