The Budget-Maxx.

Cheers Tug.Any idea on these?I have seen the Traxxas ones and they seem a bit expensive for what they are.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Traxxas-E-Maxx-16-8v-model-3905-CVD-Shafts-FCR-Axle-/200910491156?pt=Radio_Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2ec732ce14

I've had a huge amount of success with the RCBest CVDs over the years, but with two exceptions. The 14.4 volt version were great, but had to be kept down to 4s. The 16.8 version were actually worse!

I'm still using some of the 14.4s, but only on the front.

Personally, I'd either get the stock Traxxas items from the later e-Maxx and t-Maxx or get the steel Traxxas CVDs. There are some other makes, MIP etc, but can't comment on them.

There are these, but I've no idea how good they are. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=290910473776

Don't forget, you'll need new hub carriers all round for most of these suggestions.

This will be another expensive project :whistling:

I am on the FLM site at the mo and looking at a new chassis and F/R bulkheads with diffs. Can you tell me if these are any good?

I'm going with the FLM arms as I have had these on my baja's and they were bullet proof.

Cheers

The bulks are said to be great, but I've not had those, so can't comment. I've got standard FLM ally bulks, they're great, but watch the screws don't back out on the underside, they then get smashed back in and ruin the threads.

I've had FLM ally arms, never bent one, so they're tough alright. But they don't flex, which can damage other parts such as shocks, bulks etc. I'd go RPM for the arms, then you can fit the true-track to the rear. This removes the tie-rods, which are a major weak point, just as they are on the Savvy.

A mind of information mate, thanks.I have just ordered some brushless Emaxx drive shafts and knuckles from Jennys....lets spend some more before my missus finishes the hoovering! :whistling::whistling::thumbsup:

Ta

The stockers are OK, just make use of the slipper.

Another trick is to fit steel CVDs to the rear only, as it's the rear that really takes the strain. Looks odd, but who cares?

You gonna do a build thread? With the list of bits you're buying, it'd be rude not to! ;)

Yeah, pity he didn't do the front arms.So im going to see if I can get a deal on the P+p on these.

As long as they're the wide version, not the original narrow version.

Early Maxxs were narrower, RPM made arms for them. Those look like the wide ones you want. The part number should be 80465.

Cool, let us know what the bulks are like.

The combo looks OK, but the motor's a bit slim. It'll be OK, just don't over gear it. Same with the ESC, 80 Amps is a little low, so keep the gearing sensible.

Yes mate, build thread on its way when I have all the parts. Did you advise me on a tranny? I can't seem to find the thread.I was going to go for a brushless transmission from Dollar or JRC but apart from that what else do I need for the tranny? i.e slipper, spur, etc.

Thanks

Single motor plate, try to get the cover as well so you don't chew up your cables.

Slipper assembly and spur gear.

Some chop shops do the whole lot as a bundle, if you can't find one that's doing that, email Jennys and ask, they're nice people to do business with.

I'm struggling to remember what you've got already! Time you posted up some pics? ;)
