Schumacher Cougar 2000 upgrade?

Hi guys, I am looking at getting a schumacher cougar 2000 and wondered if it was possible to get upgrades for it. I definitely need a new motor and esc, probably new suspension parts, and new wheels/tyres. Do you think with these upgrades it could be competitive against todays buggies in the 540 class?

Schumacher still sell most of the suspension parts, etc and the wheels and stuff (same as Cat 2000 at the rear). Motor and esc wise I'd go brushless as the chassis can take it, unless you are suggesting you have a controlled motor class anyway.

I'm running an even older RC10 Team ('91) against modern 2wds. Its been fitted with lipos, a 10.5t brushless with timing advance and modern tyres. The result is that it competes on pretty much even terms with modern stuff - its not as good as the current mid motors but not far off the rear motors at least.

Bodyshells are rare, but I sold a guy on oople a shell and undertray a few years back that he was going to get copies made of. Not really sure what happened about that.

I was running a Cat 2000 until about 2 years back. It then got donated to my club as a newbie car and was being used regularly until about 6 months back, so I'm pretty good at keeping old Schumachers going. Schumachers own webpage (look under old car parts), Ebay and the vintage section on Oople should let you source virtually anything.
