Another thought, would you know if that wire is the cheap Chinese stuff?

I've had problems in the past with cheap wire on rc leads and it's because the strands of wire appear to be stainless steel, not copper.  It can be soldered but I always have to mess about until it works.

What solder are you using? the type with flux added will make the job easier in almost every scenario.

Looking at your photos, it looks like the soldering iron wasn't hot enough.

The solder not sticking to the iron obviously isn't ideal but you should still be able to make a neat job.  I've soldered many times on wires using only solder and a mini blow torch pen when somewhere with no electric,  not ideal I know but you get my point about the solder not on the iron tip.

Most irons have a copper tip (maybe coated on some) so a careful bit of filing/scaping should be ok.  Maybe the coating has come off of yours hence why the solder won't stick.

I quite like it.  Stretched Slash chassis and with stronger parts already fitted, like the slash ultimate.  Plus larger tyres.  The body looks nice, better than the squashed 2 wheel drive slash variant.

It might just be delayed due to the easter holidays.

Several items I posted took an extra 4 days to be delivered.

One of them sent via Parcel Force took 9 days.

  6. What's royalmail like now for lipos.

It's potluck with any courier at the moment, they are all flat out because more people are using them due to the royal mail strikes.

This means not enough staff so taking on agency workers to deliver, and they make no effort to find an exact address or care if they lob it over yours or a random neighbours fence.

Plus Hermes/Evri wasn't just voted the worst delivery firm in the uk for nothing.

They usually are the cheapest though.

I've used Evri quite a few times and usually arrange it through Packlink via Ebay.  Not many issues but the last three times it was a disaster and nothing but stress.  Evri blame Packlink and vice versa.  I've since learnt that Packlink is based in Italy (or somewhere like that).

Even the last couple of parcels coming here with Evri have taken a lot longer than they should have, over a week once they actually had the parcel and the last box took 2 weeks to get here after getting scanned at their warehouse.

Add in the  cyber monday and christmas increase and it's anyones guess when, or if, a parcel will arrive/be collected.

Either say nothing and hope all goes well, or send it via the royal mails special service for batteries, liquids, etc.

I'm sure I read that the self storage happens after the charged state is present for 5 days, then it lowers the voltage to storage levels.

However, we aren't advised to leave a normal lipo charged for days at a time though...

Basically if you are willing to pay that much for a 4s, you are an idiot!

  9. Any Appliance Electronics discount codes kicking about?

    1. JonnyUK

      JonnyUK

VIT5 usually gets you 5% off Vitavon stuff, that's the only code I'm aware of on RC stuff.

  10. Anyone use these bearings in bashers? Need to replace a few and these are cheap and cheerful lol

I've bought many sets of bearings from the RCBearings website and have no complaints.

Also, if you have a model which isn't listed on the site drop them a message and they can usually put a set together and add it to the website quickly.

I know they are running one on the Vitavon stuff, VIT5, but not seen any other codes about.

That website is pretty amazing, the amount of stock they carry is spot on.  Ordered a few things from them and shipping is very quick.
