  1. All good, love getting information on whats some good tires and those to avoid. On the point of tires the correct ones arrived. Super supple and sit really nice, will be getting again. I like this transmission it has plenty of room for addons. Made a little motor protector to keepmuck & twigs out of the outrunner motor casing. Took her out for a test with the sidewinder4 , holmes hobbies revolver 2700kv and 17t pinion. Was good but not fast enough for my likeing similar issue with the axe 1800kv. Moved up to a 5000kv castle sensored on 10t pinion will see how that fairs. Its got tons of speed and very smooth startup. The esc is overkill but its the only one i have for this motor, it takes up the entire top servo plate, with 5mm room left over. For those interested there is just enough room to mount a scale winch infront of the esc on the top plate of the IFS kit, closing the cage was troublesome however they will fit. The transmitter box im using is from the Hobao DC1, they are waterproof and seem decent enough a bit small maybe if you have lots of channels or wires., what is everyone else using? Was happy with the stock shocks but need a bit more ground clearance with the IFS so swapped out for some longer dual rate shocks i had been using on my other crawler. I think they look alright, might look better with bigger bore ones, however functionality over looks these perform really good. s Tiny bit of rubbing when on extreme compression. These rims are deep and offset the wider tires by quite a bit, so my assumption at the start that the open cage body would make it easy to fit big tires was wrong. Some scale details, old drive shaft, comes in handy for keeping the shell up whilst working on it on the trail. Also can see mounting of some lights, seems like thats what the little brackets at the front are for. Some footage testing the IFS kit on the gatekeeper chassis along with how noisy the revolver motor is, sorry its not the best footage still getting started please be kind Major issue with steering even at 7.4v on a 21kg servo the steering locks up. Will be getting a much stronger servo maybe double it to 48kg. Im 50/50 on the IFS kit it looks neat but performance is weird. It can sure getup places other trucks can't, my other crawlers would not cross those rock gaps or climb the vertical bank. I'm enjoying the gatekeeper. Are you enjoying yours? What pros and cons have you found? Does anyone's lurch due to the overdrive at stock, is that normal? Thank you for reading I hope it was helpful.
  2. Never bought copies but I'd assume there would be a drastic difference in the rubber compound / quality of the rubber used, e.g. how soft / supple they are, that affects performance on different surfaces. Yes please!
  3. Drift crawling will be all the rage! 🙃
  4. 😕 Sod what others think? He asked for peoples thoughts and HPI isnt a Banggood special rebranded to FTX with a price hike. Glad to hear your enjoying your SBK, They really are the way to go to get what you want and know how everything works, so when something goes wrong when it rarley does you have and idea what your doing This is true, same for the upgrades, 2 steel axles for the cost of a single steel axle for the trx4, and with the high rock chassis at least, its took some pretty heavy tumbles down some very steep hills and nothing has ever boken - the bodyshell of course.
  5. Who needs shoo goo when you have 100s of stickers haha! Love it, lads done the same to his truck, im pretty sure if we pull of a sticker the whole shell will just disintegrate haha.
  6. haha the old shell still lives? covered up the holes with stickers i see 😁
  7. Looking bad ass in that Blue! How did you find the build any issues?
  8. Awesome thank you. Will check that out! Little bit of friday tinkering before weekend of playing. Decided to see how the Revolver goes as the Axe is back home in the Highrock. Higher KV and 14t pinion so should go a bit faster. New rims that widen the stance, No rubbing on these. Tires are placeholder being swapped over for some 120mm x 45mm Baja tires later, last set of Baja truck tires didnt work out way to small (109mm x 35mm (30mm)) Smol tires, also showing the deep dish rims (far right) and the width diffrence to stock for those intrested. Next up finish off body then some more testing maybe some footage if its running well :) Thanks for reading.
  9. The Sherpa has tons of lights, are you running with them on? Are you running in low range for that 30 min? Only real way to extend the runtime short of that is move to brushless. I get a good few hours from my 3s 5000mha packs. Or maybe there's something binding making the motor work harder than it should? Bare in mind also that batteries perform much worse the colder it gets so expect your lipo runtimes to start to improve as summer returns.
  10. Today i did a terrible paint job, never had issues like this before 🤔 Wiped clean before painting and these are the results, the sides didnt do this so not sure what happened.
  11. When you find it, Im intrested! Q. How are the beadlock holes, looks like you changed hardware are the threads still good in the plastic wheels, i know my gmade beadlocks one screw has started to strip as the plastics ok but not that hard. Q. Do the tires sit air tight to the rims like pro-line and the gmade ones do or were they modified to fit the gmade wheels or have they been ported. Thank you.
  12. Yes but that's worth it for 2speed, diff locks, and portals, its much more of a trial truck as it can go slow and decent pace so you get the most out your batteries. Basically a trx4 drivetrain wise for much less. As an owner of this chassis and a trx4 chassis, unless you just really want to crawl, go 2speed for the trails its more fun imo. The chassi is ok but flexes lots due to thin metal used on the rails. They come with fairly fast motors and terrible ecus for modulation, instantly drop it for a 1080 hobbywing. I run an 1800kv axe in mine on 3s lipo 5000mha and 10-11t pinion and get 4 hours + runtime. These are a good starting platform and have compatibility with the other ftx crawlers eg. steel axles (avoid the aftermarket portals). I started with the highrock and wished i had started with the trx4 or something else because there are better options out there, if I hadnt of got the trx4 chassis kit, I probably would have got the Abisma or Hobao DC1. I've put almost the same as the truck cost, in mods and motors, tires etc to get the performance up to par, out the box it will blow you away until you get sick of it rolling over, high clearance means higher CG, they need unsprung weight. I still would pay that little more for a much better rig.
  13. Assuming its the Photon 2.1 brushless, you can adjust the braking (and everything else) with the program card. https://www.modelsport.co.uk/index.php?product_id=385693
  14. I like inner wheel arches as they will help keep some muck at bay. I love my FTX highrock (same chassis as this front mounted motor etc.) But are they worth the price? £275 ish like the Highrock steep end but acceptable. Over £300... No i dont think so... thats going into competition with Axial, Gmade, Element, Hobao etc and those are better quality all round. Do FTX sell to BangGood or is it the otherway around, I saw the highrock there in the past for 100£ cheaper (slightly less detailed body, ftx added lights) Texan? https://www.banggood.com/RGT-EX86181-RTR-1-or-10-2_4G-4WD-RC-Car-Rock-Crawler-Truck-Vehicles-Models-p-1767336.html?rmmds=search&ID=6287842&cur_warehouse=CN Are you after a crawler or do you just like the look of the body?
  15. Damm it... That feeling when tires way to narrow to the point they are not to the correct spec. Bit on the narrow side RC4WD should be 35mm wide track.
  16. Tire clean and check. Might need to make myself some scale tire racks.
  17. Few more bits arrived today, not sure about the tires they seem a small, the main issue is they seem narrower than the rims they are supposed to go on 😢
  18. Would love some advice on a good bec myself, wanting up to 8v so nothing bonkers. Was looking at the castle one. https://www.modelsport.co.uk/castle-bec-10a-peak-25v-max/rc-car-products/366566 Maybe the castle bec would suit your needs? Only downside is the castle link maybe the field programmer would work also, i dunno... Ideally one thats switchable via jumper or switch rather than one that needs an extra device.
  19. Heres a product no one asked for or wanted, buy it! 😜
  20. Assuming the 1200mha and the 1800mha are both 7.4v i dont see the battery being a cause unless you upped the voltage, did you open the speed controller up to check it was mechanically sound? Its a shame to loose the original but an electronic ecu will give you much better runtime and performance in the long term, maybe a silver lining of the cloud.
  21. 30 min runtime from that is very low, how many lights you got running Are all your cells charging to full, on a cheap 2s battery, mine says full but when checking it was only 58% full have to reset the charger to get a full 7000mha charge, what battery and charger are you using? If its a brushed crawler even at really high frequency you should still get over an hour. Have you tried another battery? What ECU / Motor please?
  22. oof I hate killing keyboards like that... once i spilt a beer over my razor black widow keyboard that killed it, took it apart washed it under the tap and left it in a box of rice for a week, worked again and is still running to this day 5 years later, had no other option really or 150£ down the drain.
  23. 2nd Workbench tipped over with all my boxes of open screws and parts on it 😱, so a much needed screw / part sort. Trucks didnt get no lovin today.
  24. Got a bunch of little extras, rc transmitter, temp gun, wires, plugs etc., Along with some Proline single stage closed cell foams for getting wet, are they supposed to be rock solid? Dont really want to open the pack if they arnt going to perform. I expected them to be about as soft maybe a bit more stiff as a standard RC foam insert, these are like the foams bumpers are made out of with very little give. Any thoughts do they soften overtime like tires... wrong place to ask i suppose, should have got hair scrunchies instead maybe.
