@.AJ.Yeah I have £500 worth of high end Nylon waiting for me to get back into that. Do you think if I made one that utilised the stock bracket with a little bit of 3D printing, it would work well?

Also, would you be interested in testing a guard for the spur gear?

  5. Anyone had a UPS delivery lately?

My Hero9 Black is supposed to be here today and just had a notification, due to Brexit 'complications' it isn't being delivered today, there's now basically no tracking information available and no scheduled delivery date or anything.

Before calling UPS, just thought I'd ask.

Yeah mine doesn't have a slot anymore haha

I was supposed to have a very important UPS delivery today and, as we now know, we aren't a million miles away. Could be that you're on the same route (although I doubt that).

Either way, my delivery slot ended at 14:00 and nothing. Still nothing.

  7. So I've decided to buidl a trail truck this summer and I've started out with the body... Power Wagon.

Next up... need to choose a kit. Right now im looking at the Axial SCX II. Anyone want to tell me that it's the wrong/right way to go?

  8. The MT410 combo deal on RPRC is awfully tempting 🤤🙄

I totally agree with @mydoddy69 on this one. I have a 1500KV sensored motor in mine, geared up with a hefty pinion and it's still bloody bonkers on 6s. I also ran it on a fake castle 1800kv motor and that was superb.

There is a lot of people that do run 2200KV and seem satisfied with it, but you have no gearing options beyond the smallest pinion you can fit (14 or 15T i think). You're basically limited to 4S here, 6s you would barely be able to blip the throttle.

I'd absolutely aim for a 1800KV motor if you plan on running 6s and 4s, it's a nice balance. If you want to run mostly 6s then there is a few upgrades that are worth considering (e.g. metal diff cases) to reliably handle the power.

I also got the MMM relocation plate on recommendation, again from Mydoddy, and that made the internals a lot easier to manage.

I've done the rear bulkhead mod with a different driveshaft and flanged bearing, but not tested it yet.

I sold some rather expensive things recently, talked to the buyers through the whole process to make sure it all went fine and they were happy... no feedback from either.

I just put it down to how much of the shopping is done online now. People just can't be bothered to keep giving feedback on everything.

As with anything that was once to benefit the little people, it slowly gets geared towards those with larger vested interests such as big companies.

  13. After months of living on scraps in terms of freelance work... I think I may have landed a job.

Will be sad to say goodbye to the freelance world, but right now the world is just not set up for it.

It's a pretty good role at a company that has a lot of room for growth so there are big reasons to be happy looking forwards.

      Paul Busby

Yeah i'm sad. as it's yielding the control of my life to a company, but happy because that company has a much better approach to project management that similar companies I have worked for in the past.

They head hunted me as a freelancer with the intention of maybe having work at some point.

They also talked about full time roles and I said I would think about it. Another position opened at the company and I officially applied, they then opened another position, and I was asked to apply for that as well.

Being told things have gone well and I am currently the favourite fills me with a lot of confidence... I have left it up to them which role they would prefer me to take. Right now, I think it would two very special people to take the opportunities away from me.

  18. My Dremel 3000 has given up, not sure why as it was working perfecly. I opened it up and gave it light clean and it worked for about 3 seconds until it stopped again. Any ideas?

When I had issues with mine, it was down to the collet release button being stuck... which was a relatively simple fix. If yours isn't spinning at all then I would suspect that's not your problem. It does sound like a brush issue, so maybe replace them and just see what happens. Sometimes with brushes even when it looks fine, a replacement can sort it out.

There is full on schematics widely available, and you can get most of the individual parts to service them... i know that's not helpful, but perhaps looking at the schematic can give you some ideas where the fault is?

Get a job, get excited, start prepping for it... bam... gone.

Hopefully it still comes through for you mate, I'm basically on the verge of parking my company and taking a full time role.

The lack of government support for small one man business and self employed has been shocking throughout all this.

  22. Man lockdown has made some grumpy old so and so’s all I seem to see is folks moaning but not even anything to do with lockdown!!

    1. Paul Busby

Right now, remotely is the only way to do anything like that. Even in general, if something goes wrong, you get a call and then I have to tell a customer it will take me 3-4 hours to get there, during which time they're offline, along with everyone who needs that service to function.

Sure, companies could all have people like me working full time on site, but that would also not be particularly financially viable.

It's not laziness at all, it's a level of efficiency beyond anything humans have achieved before. What's incredible is how people take this achievement for granted.

It's easy to think of the internet as Facebook and YouTube, but it isn't like that, the internet is now responsible for communication between a lot of infrastructure systems. it's basically as essential and fresh water and electricity for the country to actually function.

If the internet was shut down, it really would be a nationall disaster in a real sense of the word.
