  1. Cant help trying things out, so fitted these wheels from a broken monster truck (PX9200) makes it a wider track and they are a tiny bit smaller diameter so a tad less top speed a tad more acceleration and a new look, sort of Teton style, tried it out in the street and seems to run well with them
  2. Just been out for another run with this car, it really does have a tendency to tip over, and it does not like having a Mobius camera mounted on the roof, so much bounce video is near un watchable so we are thinking better shocks all round, and maybe find a way to mount the lipo lower down, to get CG lower, also i think this needs a higher turn motor, i would guess at 27T so maybe a 45T would lose a bit of speed but give a little more lower down, the motor mount wont allow for a larger pinion
  3. Having recently purchased this Ripmax Fast 2000 from Modelsport, a few members asked me to do a bit of a write up, so here we go. If any one else has one or gets one feel free to add to this thread. I have run this a few times now and really getting to like it, its a rock racer, so its pretty quick on the flat, but to open it up it needs to be pretty smooth ground, this makes it a pretty good trail runner, with the ability to take in a bit of a crawl on route, at this point we do have to note that the Ripmax is not made by Ripmax but in fact a Wltoys model the Wltoys 10428-B2 and comes same as. Lets get a couple of negatives out of the way......suspension is very average no provision for oil in the shocks and rather bouncy, i may have to look at uprating the shocks in time. Second one she is a bit top heavy, on fast trails she will tip over on the corners, if you are giving it the beans. Now to more positive stuff, the makers claims a top speed of 40kph, i really doubt this but have no means to test, best guess closer to 30. This model comes with a fairly basic radio, but it does the job, taking 4 AA cells, with steering trim and a rate for throttle, but feels okay in the hand. Nice beadlock wheels are fitted, with decent soft tyres, they feel like they have memory foam inserts, not removed a tyre yet to check. For the power this is supplied with a 2200mah 2s Li-ion pack and a wall charger, but i have already changed out to Floureon 2200mah 2s lipo`s, the lipo gives a better top speed and a longer run time, they are a tight fit but do go in and stay put in a roll or tumble! One important point, the electrics are not waterproof at all, so avoid running through the wet stuff or it will be magic smoke time! Overall the build quality seems very good, the plastic has a flexible feel to it, body can be removed as a whole unit or panels can be removed to get access to the insides, Modelsport price is just as good, the wltoys 10428-B2 is nearly same price on BG but i would always buy from a decent UK supplier rather than risking import tax and damaged goods from China! I will update this thread as we go, i do plan on some sensible mods like shocks, i may fit a higher turn motor, and feel free to comment on here, all input good or bad welcome
  4. Had a decent run with the Mauler pickup, more heavy trailing but really enjoyed a run out, my mate tagged along with his new Kanyon, nothing fell of the trucks
  5. Starting to think i should have got the outback ranger, and done a few sensible mods
  6. i dont know you as i am pretty new, but hey, welcome back
  7. Aj, that chassis looks very very fast, and top quality
  8. I fixed the propshaft that was missing, and finished wiring up and fitting a home made light kit to my truck, the lights are not that bright, if i keep this rig i might have to rethink the lights
  9. Happy days, the correct propshafts arrived, so i now have a 4WD Mauler again, so now both front and rear shafts have been stripped, re assembled with thread locker, and heat shrink over each end to stop pesky steel circlip pinging of
  10. of top of my head i think its about 140mm but hopefully the next set will arrive tomorrow, i need the universal 110-155mm ones as this mauler has a stretched chassis, the first ebay seller sent me the 80-120mm shafts despite me ordering 110-155mm, finally got a refund on first set
  11. same one as this https://www.banggood.com/HG-P407-2_4G-4WD-Rally-Rc-Car-for-TOYATO-Metal-4X4-Pickup-Truck-Rock-Crawler-RTR-Toy-p-1307753.html?bid=30055&rmmds=category&ID=224&cur_warehouse=CN
  12. Now that looks better than a 20 year old hooker on her first night
  13. still waiting for a new driveshaft, ordered right ones from a seller on ebay, but he sent the smaller ones, so had to order from another seller and hope i get sent the correct ones........its proving to be a long wait
  14. Postie brought a pair of Floureon 2s 2200mah for my new Ripmax fast 2000, now we have the power! BTW brilliant ebay seller for the lipo`s
  15. Yes its a crawler rock racer, i might want to slow it down a little but will have a few runs with it and see how it performs
  16. Thank you for the reply, will give this matter some thought
  17. Having never done this before, i might want to change a motor to a higher turn, for example from a 27T to a 45T, am i right in thinking this will give less top speed but more low end, and would it be a noticeable difference in speed reduction
  18. I will start a thread in rc crawlers section at weekend after i have been out for a maiden drive at ogden waters with it, should have a couple more lipo`s by then
  19. A shiney new Ripmax Fast 2000 rock racer, yea i know its a rebranded wltoys but seems okay for the money, thank you modelsport
  20. Looking really nice, good luck getting this done
  21. I decided against the outlaw, seems like i picked up on every negative issue on the whole of the internet, went for this from modelsport https://www.modelsport.co.uk/ripmax-survival-force-1-10-4wd-rock-crawler-rtr-2-4ghz/rc-car-products/430346 yes its a rebranded wltoys but seems a pretty tough truck, with plenty of spares about
  22. I use the cheap helping hands but vecro it to my work bench to stop it moving about, works well
  23. Postie brought me a shiny pair of universal prop/driveshafts for my sick mauler pickup........despite me measuring and ordering correctly, the ebay seller still decided it would be well funny to send me the wrong ones, meaning i have to wait another 7-10 days to use my truck, does any one have a universal 110-155mm shaft
