  1. Glow plug ignitor fully charger? Glow plug glowing nice and bright?
  2. Great captures. Impressed especially with the last one.
  3. It isn't the flywheel that's getting stuck its the piston and sleeve and I'm guessing that your engine is still new if so the tolerances inside are still going to be very tight, even more so when it is cold. Its always a good idea to pre-heat a nitro engine before trying to start it as this will expand all the metal surfaces and make starting much easier.
  4. I wouldn't right that engine off yet. The reason that it is stiff right at the top of its stroke is due to whats called 'pinch'. The sleeve has a slight taper towards the top which 'pinches' the piston at TDC to create a seal and compression in the combustion chamber. Without 'pinch' the engine would run like a bag of spanners if at all. So if yours is tight at the top that is fine, that is how it is supposed to be.
  5. See I was wondering if the piston was right at the top of its stroke when it was turned off. If it was, as the engine cooled the piston and liner would have become stuck together effectively locking the engine up. I'm sure I had this situation happen on an old TS4N and that's what the problem was.
  6. Can I ask, after you had run the engine and it had gotten hot, when you shut it off did you wind the piston to the bottom of the bore or just turn it off and leave it to cool down?
  7. Dont know if you have seen this but it is the engine manual for the mac28. Page four lists the base settings for the engine. http://www.cmldistribution.co.uk/product/HBM6-ER/files/HB_Engine_settings_MacStar_28.pdf
  8. 1. Tamiya Monster Beetle - for pure nostalgia. First proper RC i ever owned. 2. Hyper 7 - fast, tough, cheap and bags of fun. Ive built two brushless ones and they both fantastic. 3. KM Baja - brutal power and very loud. Has cost me loads but it has been worth it. 4. Brushless Lunchbox - fun basher and fast enough to keep you on your toes. 5. MTA4 S50 - big loud and very fast, killed by lack of parts availability. Real shame. I just want to throw in my least favorite RC which was a HSP nitro buggy. It was the biggest pile of junk I ever owned. I wasnt expecting miracles but this thing broke literally every single time i tried to run it. Actually no, I did manage to get one full tank out of it without anything breaking but every other time it was game over. Sold for parts in the end.
  9. Really annoyed with myself. Managed to lose a brand new pair of Hyper 7 steering arms that were for my mates car. Looked everywhere i can think of and no sign of them. Id like to think that i havent accidentally binned them but i am beginning to wonder now :ack:

  10. This is the one I use http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hobbywing-Program-Card-For-XERUN-EZRUN-QUICRUN-Brushless-ESC-86020010-/191809636331?hash=item2ca8bec7eb
  11. Im running a Quicrun 150 esc, HPI Alphastar motor and a 17t pinion. It is fantastic fun on 3s and insanely quick on 4s. Id like to try more but there is a 4s limit on the motor. Id definitely recommend servicing and refilling the diffs, it made a night-and-day difference to mine.
  12. Fingers crossed my new shell arrives tomorrow so i can paint it before i go on holiday.

  13. Has anyone got one of these tyres or wheel and tyre going spare? Managed to blow one of off the rim lol. thanks
  14. Tamco TAC330 2.4ghz tx for spares or repairs ONLY. Aerial is damaged and has a logic board fault where you would move the sticks and the car would respond about 3-4 seconds later and the range dropped to about 10 feet before signal was lost (fault wasnt caused by the broken aerial). The sticks, switches and screen are all working fine though so could be used for spares in another tx. £12 inc post. buyers pays fees.
  15. Finally got the knocking noise sorted on the Fiesta. Happy as a pig in poo :) Soooo nice to drive after all this time without a clonk after every bump

      jea

what was making the noise ?. as i have had a knocking noise in my bmaxx  for the last 2/3 weeks after checking almost all the car it turned out to be a lose seat bracket on the near side backseat ..

  16. These are the only two Tamiyas I have left now. The one on the left is my idea of what a child of a Sand Scorcher and a Monster Beetle would look like, while the one on the right is a very very original 1986 vintage Monster Beetle that used to belong to a dear friend of mine. I have even got the little 'pay-weekly' book from the model shop it came from. Lives on my nice warm shelf now with an occasional run in the sunshine
  17. It's Saturday night and I am sat at the computer watching steam railway videos and cycling a 20 year old NiCd battery to try and bring it back to life. No one can ever say I dont know how to party lol :)

  18. New battery just ordered for the Hyper. 240 amps nominal compared to 150 of the current one. Should keep the ESC more than happy now.

How's the motor holding up?  Are you checking temps?  The last alphastar 2350 I used failed miserably on 17/48 gearing in a HN X1 CR, so slightly lower gearing than your using.  It was a warm summers day but nothing extraordinary.

That too went like a stabbed rat - till it realised it'd been stabbed and died.

Motor seems fine at the moment. Even after racing its guts out on damp grass the can is just warm, not hot by any stretch.

  19. Four times now I have left my DX2e transmitter switched on and drained the batteries flat. :ack:

      bertberr

Did the same on a couple occasions with my dx2e until i changed over to nimh's, still drain them occasionally but usually catch em before fully drained so able to charge em back up ok.

  20. Worked my way through this lot, refreshing the diffs and dampers with new fluid. Also knocked up some uber-cheap mud guards out of an old plant pot
  21. http://www.rcmodelz.co.uk/mad-max-55-19t-spur-pinion-gear-set.html There you go mate.
  22. Ive got a Mad Max metal spur on mine, has stood up to everything I have thrown at it so far and I dont drive like a nana lol
  23. Two diffs and a pair of shocks done, rear diff and shocks left to do but too bloody cold even with the heater on lol

  24. Goodies just arrived from Freeprawn. Great service as usual. Thanks :)

Cant remember the last time I orderd anythng Rc! Dam things costs too much :/ would rather chuck it into a 1-1 car now I think!

Thing is with me I went the other way. After messing around with 1/1 cars for a LONG time lol, I had gotten fed up with getting covered in oil and grease and stuff and lying on a cold hard floor repairing cars in the dark so I could still get to work. At least if the RC's break I can chuck it back in the shed and grab one thats working :)
