does anyone know what this big pipe is pleease?
there is something wrong with my car and i just cant seem to figure it out. loss of coolant and overheating but if i loosen the expansion tank cap slightly then it doesnt overheat. it seems like when i tighten the cap then it overheats and that big pipe gets really solid like its over pressure and when the pipe is soft, it doesnt feel like theres any water either.

If you have water leaking into the cylinder, then you have a blown head gasket. Thats when you would likley see water in the oil....like Shaunm was asking about.
The main thing to do is to identify WHERE you are losing the coolant.
Your radiator and cooling system should run at around 15psi, with a valve in the cap to blow off excess pressure. If your system is over pressuring, and you are losing coolant.... my bet would be on a blown head gasket. That may or may not lead to oil contamination....if you are able to see your expansion tank clearly....you may see bubbles blowing into it with the cap off. These will be proportional to the revs....
