  1. Today started off so well with sitting my MOT annual assessment with getting a pass rate of 100%, so i was on a high with that and it took me less time than expected so thought i would go treat myself and take the xmaxx out for a blast since the other half is away to a friends for some drinks. Got 1 set of packs through and even measured my top speed on grass at 50mph well 49.5 but its close enough, put my second set in and was having a blast, stopped about 10feet away from myself and had some smokes of my vape then heard a weird noise then could see fire coming from the xmaxx! Quickly pulled the body off and jerked at the battery connectors and that was the fire out! Got home and fully inspected the carnage which to be fair was a hell of a lot better than i was expecting, it was the esc that caught fire and a little bit of smoke damage to the shell which to be fair cleaned off for the most part, and of course the esc is toast, tested all my electrics and everything is still spot on batteries, receiver, servo and ubec all still fully functional, only thing i couldnt test was the motor but it still spins fine by hand so who knows with that so today started off on a high got even better then worse but it could have been a hell of a lot worse thats for sure!
  2. The other day i seen 1 of them 30 degrees stadium trucks, looks very much like the udr isint that a similar thing to the slash max and probably a lot cheaper?
  3. But with something like that you would “find” somewhere. I like the idea of a long build, i have been wanting to do 1 on something as i really quite enjoy being out in my workshop tinkering away with something
  4. Your going to buy 1 arent you? 🤣
  5. That thing is cool, i would love to build it but the price tag scares me
  6. I have the original slayer and i will agree it looks cool and is very rugged for not breaking stuff since its all enclosed in the body which is a good thing as it crashes a lot as its so unstable. I would love to have it as a cool ornament in the hallway but it needs a new shell and they dont make them anymore and i have no idea if a slash 1 would fit. I just kinda think the max slash would be the same
  7. What i did for mine for charging the large hump pack was cut a very small slot in the lid and have the charging connector outside the box and charge it that way so i dont have to take the lid off all the time
  8. I have quite a few older rc’s and some newer ones, some are in bits in a box in the loft which i have robbed bits off for other projects, some are just sitting there just needing batteries and fuel added, some i have sold and i have regretted selling them, others not so much, others are in the hallway in the house on display cause they look nice and others are in my workshop up on shelves, mostly as i think they look cool in there after all it is my “man cave”. 1 thing i have never done though is throw 1 away, i paid good money for that thing and it just goes against how i was brought up
  9. I have been waiting on this adjustable pillar drill vice for ages, first 1 i ordered never turned up and i eventually got my money back then had to wait again for this 1
  10. This used to be a part of balmedie beach that was nicknamed “the dessert” as it was just heaps of sand but that trump **** is building another golf course on it, he already has 1 here, 1 things for sure he gave someone a rather large backhander to be allowed to do this to the dunes
  11. Today took the xmaxx out for testing and this rear new diff was doing ok but the front bearing that hold the centre diff failed and has pushed the top bulkhead off the bottom bulkhead and wore a hole in the lower bulkhead, tbh i was wondering if the bulkhead was the cause of all my issues that i have been having, got 3 sets of packs through it today before i started hearing something so called it a day, here is a vid
  12. Its not every day that you see someone making everything completely from scratch in the rc car world, good effort, does it go good?
  13. The wheels that were on it before looked really good on it
  14. Looking at my pics again it looks well dirty, and that was after me cleaning it after having it in the quarry and giving it a dry with the compressor! I should really give it a proper clean
  15. Got around to do doing some stuff, fitted the different type of hardened diff and pinion and fitted the alloy diff cases, went together nice and will need to test this weekend. the wheel nuts are a fail, even though they were listed for an xmaxx they arent, the thread is too fine to screw on so they are going to go back for a refund
  16. See, you were worrying over nothing 🙂
  17. No dont think that at all, we all muddle through and get there in the end, i have been doing this since i was around 10 years old starting out with scratch building rc boats and beleive me i was a disaster zone back then!
  18. Got a few parts arrive today, there was good deals to be had on aliexpress, the reason there is so many wheel nuts is there was a 75% off deal on them and i had to spend over £8 for free shipping, so i was 50 odd pence over for 20 wheel nuts, thought i would give the alloy diff housing cover things a go as the ultimate has them so why not and i am thinking its maybe the plastic ones flexing thats killing diffs. I also have tried a different type of hardened diff gears but just went with a rear 1 to begin with and see how that works out and then maybe get a front afterwards as i was a bit annoyed with the cost of spiral cut gpm ones and long they lasted
  19. They look really good black the ss screw
  20. I used to have a lot of hpi cars, but parts arent so readily available anymore and can take near 2 weeks to arrive now, amongst a few others i still have the savage xl and a maverick blackout which are still some of my favourites and dont think i would ever sell them, i do have a few traxxas models now and they are good thats for sure, its just a shame hpi wasn’t around still like they used to be thats for sure
  21. That is all coming together really nicely
  22. Sounds like the throttle linkage isint set up properly
  23. Yesterday was a good day, went to a quarry i have never been to before with the xmaxx, it was pretty good but i dont think it can be a regular place, i have rebuilt the centre diff with all new parts and put in a mix of 50k diff fluid to mostly lubricate the rubber seals and the stock 20 million, i do have some machined internal gears coming for the centre diff and another type of machined pinion and ring for the rear diff, when they arrive i am going to also replace the rear bulkhead if i have any issues with the stock 1 thats in there at the moment as its all shimmed properly, its weird as i had no diff issues and then all of a sudden constant issues with the rear, that being said since i refitted the standard rear and shimmed it i have had it out quite a few times without a problem with it…………… This pic was taken after i had driven on some wet grass to clean it up a bit to make less mess in the car!
