  1. Boilers ... I get someone in to give it it';s annual health check, and it's going to cost me £500 to patch it up. £200 last year, and it's 8 years old.

I know where this is going. New boiler time. Otherwise it'll be the pump, the fan, etc. etc. and I wioll be throwing good money after bad.

Plans for an RC fleet reshuffle for 2017 have just been wiped out.

      Bigjimknickers

      I fit these: http://www.screwfix.com/p/fernox-tf1-compact-filter-22mm/70208?kpid=KINASEKPID&cm_mmc=GoogleLocal-_-Datafeed-_-Heating and Plumbing&cm_mmc=Google-_-Product Listing Ads-_-Sales Tracking-_-sales tracking url&gclid=Cj0KEQiAzNfDBRD2xKrO4pSnnOkBEiQAbzzeQVVqv8qU7DiAG0IimEZDzVVmcegf6hpYTFuBQDdv0CUaAhz98P8HAQ

They don't need the top removed to clean them, great idea, isolate, remove magnet, flush from the pressure of the system using the drain off, job done, now I hate magnacleans & there bloody leaking o rings!!

    4. Bigjimknickers

      Bigjimknickers

Powerflush & a mag filter is being pushed my the manufacturers, if it's not done they try to weasel out of a warranty claim it's on the benchmark (filled out on job completion) so it's a must really. There is even a section in the new vaillant manual where they ask you to test the water after a powerflush to check if it's clean enough!

again, another get out clause imo.

  2. I hate E-Bay time wasters. Guy buys a CY motor I had on sale. I send an invoice after 3 days with no pay. I send a message after 5 days. Nothing. No payment, no contact. Finally, after a week...'I don;t want it anymore....sorry. Can I cancel'. NO you damn well can't. Don't want to buy...THEN DON'T BID! Make a mistake...don't wait a week to say so, or you might find a non payment case happens.

Easy bro it's mick I'm sorry I've not been on for a while mate but I got ill and then thought that I was getting better and then wham!!! It goes n slaps me right in the face again!!! N it's only today that I'm starting to feel a bit better, n I hope that I've not just jinxed myself by saying that!!! Coz I said it the other week and then the next day I'm laid up back in bed again mate!!! So my fingers n toes are crossed!! :)

About the guy off eBay, total messer Nitro and that's one of the main reasons that I don't like to use eBay pal!! Only when I've got no other choice really is about the only time I will use it bruv!! How's your hand etc now??

    3. Nitroholic

      Nitroholic

Good to hear you're feeling better :) I'm fighting fit with nothing worse than a new scar for the collection. Finished the job that did the damage and am now busily engaged stripping the bike engine down to it's basic components. Selling stuff on E-Bay to cover the £70 for a gasket set....or I wouldn't be using it either.

    4. diydrifter

      diydrifter

Cheers mate and its good to hear that you're fighting fit aswell bruva!! :) I ccame across your bike pictures on another thread earlier and there's nothing better than the old bikes:) for me that is :)

  3. Windows 10 .... why, since the last update...have you messed up my sound! Constant volume fluctuations which I can 'fix' by toggling effects on and off.....every day!

Well..suppose it could be worse. It could be a hardware fault. But I could at least fix that permanently. Googling it seems to show it's quite a common issue. Trying to work out now which update did the damage to roll it back

I work in IT and turn off fast boot - fixes 90% of windows 10 issues I get called to. your computer will take a bit longer to boot.

      * note after the big updates you will have to redo this.

thanks for that rushboy will give it a try as I have mine asus mobo on fast boot atm and am trying to play that new SCUM game with no sound haha

I stuck with Win7 for ages - bought and built more machines than I kept track of.  Resisted the Win10 upgrade till the last min (for the free 'upgrade') and bar my recent issue with homegroup being removed, touch wood, i've had no real problems at all - in fact the only other niggle I recall was onedrive and win10 not playing ball in the early days of win10 - and MS we're quick to get that sorted obv.

Will bear in mind the fast start up thing though.  ta

  5. Aargh.... project inspiration failure! I have messed about with so many ideas for the rear end of my cage, it#s making my head hurt. I don;t like ANY of them! Desperately in need of inspiration :(

      RCbutcher

Youll crack it mate the longer you take designing the better. Ide be looking at rc solutions for inspiration but I love their style of cages. Especially the revo one. But would rather have options for panels.

    3. J450n

      J450n

Currently toying with the idea of twin sports bike swing arms on a 1/10 beach buggy, so the whole back end moves vertical, none of this flappy arms nonsense ;), front might be just bolt upright 50mm shock with little movement.

    4. Tamiyacowboy

      Tamiyacowboy

best way would be running a trailing arm style rear like class 1 trucks, trailing arm with floating drive line cvd's, but the baja is a a-arm setup so more go with a autocross like frame , it cuts out the need to craft the cage to clear the wheels at full compression

  6. Another bash due sunday :) Damage to the Baja from the last NLB is all fixed. New front suspension arm, new front shock tower and GH alloy shock supports. Also fitted Vertigo brake setup, so it ought to stop a bit better now! Might even test drive the project Hyper if the servo arrives in time.

    1. norcoforever

      norcoforever

how did you brake all that lol any photos of the damage/repair?

    2. Nitroholic

      Nitroholic

Caught a bump wrong and pulled the screws out of the shock supports...the rest then folded up. No idea when the suspension arm broke! It was the inner cross brace, so I just drove a bit careful for the rest of the bash

  7. Anyone got some good ship plans I can scale up to 1:1....while I go collect 2 of every kind of animal I can find?

  10. Baja ate it's clutch spring last bash, but a new one is already fitted and se will be back in action in a day or so after I finish cleaning the muck off! Boy...was she filthy. Now just fighting hte stupidly cold temperatures to do the other jobs I need to do. It's damn cold and isn;t even forecast to snow. Thats just not sporting

  11. Baja tested and running well. New base gasket fitted. Just need to re-torque the bolts as they settle in and fix the shell that fell apart! Snapped where all Baja shells do under the fuel filler

  12. Buzzin hornet :) Just picked up the new ride...CB900 Hornet. 140 miles back from Ripley and shes a little cracker.

nice I used to have the 600 12 years ago (god i feel old thinking like that) and it always lacked that bit of umph. Always fancied the 900 ... does it have some nice pipes?

      Nitroholic

It's still got stock pipes...but I fancy a set of Scorpion cans when funds allow.

  13. Chung Yang....y u so awkward! I want to buy a 27cc 4 bolt motor, and am trying to confirm if they are 34mm bore 30mm stroke, or 35mm bore 28mm stroke. Every website lists the former for the F270...except CY's own one! So which is it! They stopped stamping the info on and just stamp F270 in all the pics I can find too. No fair!

I plan to get mine from IRC... but he's listing a F270...and an F270 with a +2 crank. Not possible if it's a 30mm stroke surely? I have asked Rob to measure one for me.

    3. Nitroholic

      Nitroholic

      If his 270's are 35-28 ... then that makes it a 35-30 29cc with the +2

  16. Curse....foiled by the fates! My Kemora has ended up posted to the wrong address :( Still...Modelspor have sorted the problem and I should have it tomorrow. Another days wait...and it will be mine :)

  17. Cyclists....I give up. Watched one wobble through a red light, then proceed to cycle along the middle of the road at around 10mph. On a motorcycle...I go to pass him on the inside as there is a whole lane, and I assume he is going to turn right. He doesn't...instead he wobbles back to the inside. As I am waiting at the next lights he decides to lecture me on 'undertaking'....And they wonder my they have a bad reputation in London. I did the decent thing and pointed out that fat bl...

  19. Finally got around to fitting the IRC rear plate on the Baja. Good job I did...when I stripped down the driveline I found the outer bearing on the pinion was on the verge of collapse. Outer shield was detached, and the pinion was very floppy. Changed out both bearings and shimmed up some slack while I was at it. Would have been messy if that had let go.....

    1. Noj

      Noj

      lucky escape indeed!

  20. finally got around to putting up the feedback from all the stuff I have bought over the last couple of weeks. Didn't realise the list had got so long :) Must stop spending....but I own a Baja, so that ain't gonna happen!

  21. Finally happy with the tune on the Thunder Tiger ST-1...25% Byrons and a few vents in the shell. Had the power but she was a tad warm. Now she has unglued both front tyres :) I am liking this Rb .28ST motor...it's a perfect match for the ST-1!

  22. Fine morning...off work...sun shining...time to get the cars out thought I...so I did! Blown a steering servo on the Savage, lost a driveshaft grubscrew on the Kyosho, and teh screen has failed on the FlySky GT3B. Couple of hours well spent :)

  23. For all those 1/5 owners who don;t think they need a remote killswitch..... had my throttle servo die on todays bash on it's first run just as I buried the throttle. Car stays flat out. Click. Stop. No drama. Can happen anytime, and if you don;t have one...your expensive 5th scale only stoips when it runs out of fuel or hits something solid. And it takes a long time to run out of fuel.....

i would never run my rc without a failsafe,i did when first started out, had a runaway but was lucky that it hit a bump, jumped and landed in a thick bush, only suffered shreaded tyres, that was my lesson learnt

    3. dazj10

      dazj10

and tbh i think running rc without a failsafe/killswitch especially near playing children is BAD and pretty irresponsible imo

    4. dlegend

never used one but i use an elastic band and a fail safe to set the steering into a circle so it just spins around i walk up and turn it off. simple

  24. For all those members busy posting OFF TOPIC posts in a certain for sales thread...and I do have a list of who you were... I suggest you re-read the rules. Whilst busily trashing a new members advert for breaking the rules...you were breaking the rules too. I have had to waste the last half hour of my life tidying up the mess you left.
