ARRMA NERO 6S MT - Smart Diffs!

Perhaps the most powerful monster truck ever built, with almost more power than you can control ... almost. The specially designed ARRMA NERO 'Diff Brain' is fitted with three separate, lockable metal differentials, helping you to truly harness all the crazy 6S speed and torque. The 'Diff Brain' also means that the NERO is essentially four awesome vehicles in one: Blast, Wheelie, Drift and Climb. Don't be afraid....

So the Kraton, Talion etc is low end?  I thought it shared many parts with the Durango's?  I'd struggle to see any cost savings in producing X thousand parts in one factory / plastic then X thousand more in another.

Trust me Arrma is low end and whilst some parts from the Durango's will interchange there made to a highier quality hence why you see and hear guys swapping to the Durango parts as the Arrma ones break ..

Lets hope this is made to Durango standards rather than Arrma ;)

    :insane:OMG.

As an Arrma Typhon owner this has me excited, that typhon is as tough as they come in my experience. The crashes that thing has just brushed off is highly impressive. If this thing gets some decent honest reviews i'm buying the diff locking version.

Did they say if the diffs are sealed in anyway? It doesn't look like they'll  be able to hold any fluid.

I have found both my Arrma Kraton and Typhon to be very well-build and to stand up to tons of abuse.

I ve owned the Typhon and can honestly say compared to other brands the Arrma 1/8th scale stuff is cheaply made and of low quality..  What might be low quality to me may be fine for others this is just my opinion, Tough is not a word I'd use until they improve a few areas which they may have done on the new updated models due out but that's yet to be proven.

How can you say there well built when the esc is totally useless and blows all the time even Arrma can't keep up with the warranty returns ! Thin undersized bearings sub standard plastics and poorly built diffs are not what I called well made again just my opinion but you can't argue with the fact ever owner has issues with these points at some time or another. Having to then go to another brand to use there parts to rectify the issue says Arrma has low quality IMO ..

    Well spotted

I'd be looking at buying the non diff locking version so hope they are sealed as it diffs out really badly in the Tarmac video

nice. i am watching first one now. seems like it has a good selection of option parts. i dont know what he is on about it having 200a esc.......... i thought it was a max8

It's a bit poo that you can't just lock the centre diff on its own.

Just looked and it looks like there o rings in the manual so I think there sealed but hen you look at the diff gear and the way it locks I can't see how the o rings would seal the diff ..

Guess will just have to wait and see

Wait and see if you end up with 60,000 weight fluid all over your truck innards. Be my guest!

    There's an unboxing here:

I hope it is a max 8 does seem like the pulled the stops out on this one build wise.

I quite like the look of this but I think I'll wait a while to say if I'd buy one ;)

I guess it doesn't actually need oil filled diffs if you can lock them up. The whole reason we use fluid in diffs is to produce some limited slip for occasions when a completely 'open' diff won't work - when that happens with this you just lock the diffs.

I would have preferred to be able to control the centre diff separately but I can see why thats not be implemented - it would require an extra channel adding cost and complexity.

You want to be able to control the unloading of diffs though. Completely open diffs with no oil don't make for a good car overall just like all closed diffs don't.

It looks horrible to work on. The guy on Aussie RC is almost trying to convince himself it's not hard to work. The scoops on the bottom as well look like they'll suck up dirt and water.

The RCN dirt one does suggest its a bit too low slung, its grounding out on almost every jump. But then you see the tarmac one and its very planted for what is supposed to be a monster truck. Again its that trying to be all things to all people coming back - giving it more ground clearance would make it roll too much onroad.

Thing is if I got one I doubt I'd ever use it onroad, so I'd rather have a bit more height.

It might be a pain to work on, but whether or not that matters depends on how often you have to work on it! My 1st gen Savage was awkward, and used to break all the time requiring constant work. My Mini Trophy is a total pain (you have to take the whole thing apart to access the diffs properly) but never needs working on much. It will be a nightmare when something needs doing, but until it breaks why worry?

why didnt they just have 3 separate channels for the servos on the diffs so they can be locked and unlock independently.

Not certain on the stone scoops, sorry skid plates!

    Quite impressive otherwise ...

Believe me i'm surprised how tough it is. I got mine just days after release and have only replaced the wing mount and the servo. It's been run on 4s probably 80% of the time so maybe that helps. I read negative stuff about them and its like they're talking about a different car. I probably just got lucky, it's certainly not down to gentle running and it's a car i'll never sell.

Looks pretty promising from Vas' review/unboxing!

It does but let's not forget no matter what he says Arrma have paid for the review by giving him the truck ! . It's very easy to lose footage in editing and underplaying issues that arise to keep your sponsors happy. Same can be said about any of the guys that get these for review. Your better off waiting for it to hit the shelves and see what real owners think rather than those that have been paid to big it up ! .. They don't get sent these for nothing after all .

If hobao had pulled there finger out I'd have been ordering one of the new MTe on the day of release, spent funds elsewhere now but I'm still interested in adding a MT back to the fleet. No collection is complete without one imo!

I'd like to see a vid of one of the stock diffed ones alongside a fancy diffed one, running over the same ground at the same time, then you would get a good idea of how much difference the fancy bits actually make.
