What counts as a scale model?

Hi there guys,

i'm just going to describe what models represent a scale RC replica.These are models that look and feel as close to the real thing as possible.Some of the 4x4 trucks,big rig artics,18 wheelers and military multi axled vehicles are amazing and heavily detailed.I've been sucked into this branch of the hobby and i've been gobsmacked at some of the work i've seen,any scale can be used but the most popular are 1.9 and 2.2,that represents the wheel size with 1.9 being the most chosen and ideal to base scale RC's on.

Models like the Tamiya CC-01/XS and Tamiya Highlift are great kits to get into this part of the hobby and with the various accessories and modern materials,a great model can be made but it does take patience and a skilled and steady hand.Most skilled modellers use a variety of materials to recreate their favourite cars,trucks and lorries,some of the materials used are,,

Styrene or Plasticard as some know it by,

Brass tubeing,Phosphor Bronze tubeing,ie: 1:1 car brakeline,

Aluminum sheet,

Brass sheet,

Protoform foam and a few others,

Brazing equipment or silver soldering tools,

Milliput or other varients of modelling putty,

Styrene cement,ie: Revell Professional,

A selection of Humbrol or Revell paints,

The usual wiring materials for the Electronics.

So to have a model in this section it must represent a 1:1 vehicle,aircraft or watercraft in such a way that it looks real or as close as real as you can get.Buying a Tamiya TT01,TL01 or similar,painting the shell and sticking it in this section does not count as scale,below are a selection of awesome models that have been built and modded by various skilled modellers around the world,so if you built it yourself and it accurately represents the vehicle its modelled on then this is its home.I hope to see this section grow over the coming months and would like to thank Nick on behalf of all the scalers who will make use of their new home,thanks to Mrklaw aswell for suggesting it too.Enjoy the section guys and lets see those scale RC projects and builds fill up the section.Be lucky...

Bet they took a while to make. Plenty of hours and money went into those beasts I reckon.

I'm looking forward to this section a lot, but as I used to end up with cloudy canopies on my airfix models because I was clumsy with the glue, I'm not sure how well my own attempts will turn out...

Thanks guys and I know you'll enjoy having a dedicated section.Its all about learning as you go with scale stuff,i'm no expert builder but I am pretty proficient with styrene,thats the key to a good looking scale model,if you can craft more of the accessories and detail out of that stuff then your build will be a lot more satisfying and the better you are at it,the better the models will look,I was damn impressed with Daves styrene work on the Scania so thats the level we want to aim for.

I've amended your name Mrklaw,my bad,it was early doors when I did the thread and was dead beat tired... So lets just get on and get fabricating and building guys and I look forward to seeing a varied amount of projects in here,another 4 weeks and mine will be started.... I'm gonna lock the thread here now as its just a descroption of what the section includes,thanks and happy building....
